A railgun crossbow makes about as much sense as Chewbacca's crossbow that is really just a blaster which has arms on it for no reason.

I cant help but think this is an awful, awful idea. But they may prove me wrong if they have some really clever implementation which eludes my average brain

But I do believe this game is more Tribes Ascend f2p model than it is a LOL model. So I dont have a lot of faith.

Why was the art style changed!!??? I hate the new one so much in comparison to the old. It looked so much darker(color wise), grittier and just cooler.

I can't see how everyone is so upset about a crossbow. Who cares? Something new to get killed by.

Ding, ding, ding, exactly....if it were some made up weapon from a far off world that was not familiar to us everyone would be like "Whoaa..what's that I can't wait to see what it does!!"

Wasted resource on a weapon that doesn't even fit the setting

I'd rather they work on older weapons and make their designs stand out more than bringing in this thing.

Oh, a crossbow is fine and dandy, but they can't bring back the modernised Pulsar back?

Or that TR AR?

It just confuses me

Why does everyone always pull the wasted resources card? They have people specifically working on this stuff. The development team does not consist of 3 people.

My point is, the game currently has big a problem with visual variety between weapons, Vanu and TR especially. Instead of bringing back the models they have in stock from Alpha, which would quite clearly fit in with the current aesthetic, they opt in for an archaic weapon.

The problem is this, they think a bow fits in quite clearly within the game, but the modernised pulsar doesn't? I don't see the logic here.

The thing is, a crossbow might fit a role. But a different gun could have exactly the same stats while suiting the aesthetic better. The current armies are clearly bases somewhat around real-life militaries (i.e. MBTs, assault rifles, etc) but 'future-ised' with jetpacks, nanite instant spawns, et cetera - i.e. a continuation of the current military loadout based on possible future tech.

A crossbow is not a natural development of a current weapon. They're big, cumbersome, and inefficient compared to guns. The TR especially, who are portrayed as the most 'conventional' military, would not issue crossbows to their soldiers as guns work better. It doesn't fit the lore, it doesn't fit the aesthetic and it doesn't fit the game.
