That free month of being a premium member really opened up my eyes.
I had Premium membership which gives you 25% Xp/Resources and I also used my 50% XP Boost. When I played the game, I always had Med kits and grenades at full....I was rich. BTW XP boost helps get resources too, It says that XP gets you resources according to the territory u are fighting in, not sure exactly how it works, can anybody explain? Now I have no Premium membership or boost and I can't even get my medkits to half full or my grenades to full. You could say I been fighting on losing continents but thats not the case I was fighting on losing continents when I had XP boost/Membership and I never felt poor. The thing is, that it really opened up my eyes to a hidden Pay 2 win in this game. I mean I just use medkits and grenades....I was using med kits left and right like a mad man...Now I actually need to be a tad more careful. You don't get Pay 2 Win on an individual level, as in 1 vs 1 situations, the game is pretty fair on that front but on a wider level....Their is Pay 2 Win. What I mean by this is, is what you can buy with resources....Specially on the infantry side. Proximity mines = Instant kill.....Unless you have flak armor....The likeliness of somebody not having a Flak Armor is quite big since their is other options for people to get. So obviously if somebody has more Proximity mines, they have a higher % of getting kills than somebody who has almost none. The thing is however that yes, you could counter a Proximity mine with Flak armor or by shooting the proximity mine(Which is hard in a combat situation since this a fast pace game)......But like I said is still a hidden Pay 2 Win when you give a player more of a weapon which could insta kill. Now with Vehicles Prices increasing, is the perfect time for Paying Members to use the hidden Pay 2 Win since they are gonna have the resources available to get as many vehicles as they want with minimal risk. Don't get me wrong I love the game, Always been a Planetside fan but seeing the hidden P2W scheme kind of sucks. I will still defend Ps2 when people say is P2W since they mean Pay 2 Win as in 1 vs 1 situations (n00b vs Vet), thats obviously bullshit since Stock Weapons are actually damn good in this game. I understand why SOE put Resources boost, for people who don't have enough time to play to get their favorite vehicles/consumables fast but I think it should be canned IMO. Having infinite resources to have more shit doesn't equal P2W. Even if you have an infinite number of grenades, you can still only carry X amount at a time, so the chances are high that you'll only be using one per life anyway. Proximity mines? You only get one. So even if you have infinite resources, you'll still be averaging one per life, just like everybody else, unless you're in close proximity to a spawn terminal.

So long as the "I'm shooting at you, you're shooting at me, using similar gear" gameplay is reasonably well balanced, I don't think you'll hear a lot of complaining.
But yes, there /are/ advantages to being a member. That's kind of the point. My personal favorite is the raised offline cert cap. I have one character I play a lot, and several others. Each time I log in, I log into them all. 48 cert points a day is no joke, especially after a week or so. The whole log-in queue thing is certainly nothing to sneeze at either. That's actually what finally tipped me over the edge of renewing my membership after my previous one expired. Dealing with the freebee login queues was intolerable. |

This is weird...I just got banned from Planetside 2, lol.....WTF?
I didn't TK this time, I wonder what it was.
but Resource boost is nice advantage that I think is kind of unfair on the grand scheme of things But Yeah I agree individual level....The game is pretty damn balance...Thats why I defend the game when they say is Pay 2 Win. |

"Pay to win over time" you mean by out-attritioning others in terms of logistics and being a bit further ahead in upgrades and sidegrades.
In a way yes, much like how infinite class switching and respawning nearby is a logistical advantage over time when engaging the same person in that life. Which is why the class switching is akin to infinite certs in PS1 (where infnite certs in PS1 has a few less, somewhat arbitrary restrictions per life than PS2 has). Over time it grants a significant advantage to the person able to switch gear or have the gear they need always at their disposal sometime in their play session, where others do not. It's not exactly "pay to win", as that would suggest a direct combat advantage. This is an indirect advantage. |

They got to have something to make money with on the game. You don't see that many players complaining about the resource boosts. I recently opened a sub for PS2 cause I started playing it more. But the main reason I got a sub was to be able to have priority in continent queues.

I think we should lock out higher-end processors and graphics cards so the game isn't pay-to-win. Framerate is an enormous 1-on-1 advantage and it's unfair that people can spend money to receive it.
Careful, one of life's great truths is hidden in there. |

Haha Ps2 is 100% pay to win.. but, its THE BEST pay2win game out there and is still technically free I think once the game is expanded enough like ps1 was then all prices will drop significantly and xp will be easier to get since there will be 100 times more things to cert into..

Well Higher End Graphic cards usually play games at very high settings which IMO is actually a disadvantage. I compared how the game looks on very low/meduim/high settings....Having everything on High blinds u. FPS is very important tho. |

I carry 3 personally. The resource boost is a bit insane in that regard. I've had 40 unlocked before and in a tower fight would throw them over the rails for free kills. Yeah whenever buying things gives you an advantage that's going to happen though.

Thing is, if you're doing well and know where to pick your fights, you can replenish full resources as fast as you need to keep everything at maximum. Members will get it faster, but there's a cap, where it becomes irrelevant.
Fighting at places, where you get 30 of some resource, fills up your reserves in less than 5 minutes, if there is a good fight and you're doing fine. |
