Whilst I fully support my outfit mate (OP) I do also feel that many of us need to stop dismissing things so quickly and realise that an idea from the original that did indeed kill the game may not have the same result in this game.
We already know we have a much easier time with the TTK. The HA spam and lock ons alone make this game a completely different beast from PS1. In PS1 a single tank could easily stay alive in a heavy battle for hours when played well but in PS2 even played well a MBT has a significantly harder time because of the TTK, Lock ons, various AV options from so many classes (Engi, HA, LA, Infil) each able to easily solo a tank. If you asked me back in Beta if BFRs should come in I would say no, ask me now and I'm less inclined to oppose them. Why you ask? Well here are my main points: - Current AV/DPS/TTK gives room for a large powerful unit - The new mechanics of the game allow for specific hitbox detection, so BFRs can now have vital areas similar to MBTs where dmg would be significantly larger than normal hits. We even have the ability to implement the ability to destroy single arms, legs or turrets on a BFR now, making BFR combat far more strategic and fun. - I dont think Sony would make these the one man titans they were, able to fly, run and stomp around at will. I imagine varying classes (think Battletech/Mechwarrior) smaller versions for one or two man pilots about twice the size of a Max. Light fast and mobile attack BFRs with comparible stats to a MBT. Then your larger more powerful units (think Gal size) with perhaps 5 man teams. These would be slower, far less agile, cost each pilot a large amount of resource and still vulnerable to critical attacks on say arm joints, shoulder turrets or legs. What I'm trying to say is as the community we should not dismiss BFRs entirely, the very nature of PS2 combat has already nearly blunted the existing vehicles because infantry can destroy them so easily so perhaps large more powerful units could restore some balance? |

Lets put this really simple.
The are not needed and they are not wanted. Why would SOE risk the upset, bad blood, dishonesty, loss of customers to put them in the game. Making a tank walk when we have tanks in the game already is a bad idea not only because you are giving the spam machines greater scope to spam infantry but also you are making tracked tanks pointless. Lets no even go there with the screenshake gimick that's still in the game. Go play mech warrior or hawken. |

I think there's one thing even the bittervets need to admit. If we got mechs that required 4 or 5 man crews to operate, it'd be a massive buff to teamwork. The meta between InfantryAV and armor was swung so far in Infantry's favor because people were using MBTs as solo kill streak machines. Mechs *could* fill a niche of a team operated heavy vehicle if SOE does it right.
