I believe it would cool if the rank insignias that can be displayed on the shoulder were actually automatically pinned to the upper left chest area. Most anyone who has ever purchased a logo for the shoulder will never use them anyways and it seems such a waste that you really never see them in game.
I'm at work, would anyone be willing to whip up and spit out an example of how this would look?

Would really like to see this but I have no idea where it would go. Only place I can think of is on the middle-top of the torso, because no non-default armour covers that. Afaik.

Yeah, I don't get why they treat these like regular cosmetics. They fill up your decals selection window once you've obtained a lot of them. Plus, not easy to figure out which one belongs to which rank. Would be nice if you could simply select a single rank insignia option as the decal and it auto-update to the rank you currently are.
Really like the idea of adding another decal option to the chest area as well. Perhaps another location could be on helmet somewhere. Make it mandatory (must select a decal location somewhere) but can use any decal slot you want? |

Hmm... In todays day and age I only fear that this may result in people refusing to listen to lower ranks because rank would be so obvious when the reality is that rank in this game only determines how good you are at killing and been playing, not leadership qualities, of which a lower rank may be good at. eg: the elitist mentality.
But apart from that it would be neat, even more so if each faction has their own rank signs. Provided it's free otherwise it will only be on every other person, in which case, what's the point other then to simply show off and be cool. Here's how I imagine it for free. "Hey bud, you got a rank up and it's obvious because it's on your chest. Awesome!" Here's how I imagine paying. "Yea, you got a rank up but how can I compare you to this guy that plays for free who may or may not be better or worse then you?" Last edited by Taramafor; 2013-10-06 at 05:26 PM. |

furthermore, most good players don't listen to anyone in the sense of traditional military leadership (the sense in which i understand you to mean.) most of the best teams seem to simply communicate critical information (targetID, vector) and follow "plays" or strategic guidelines based on the individual's ability to respond. that may be an elitist attitude but after the amount of hours of play i've put in, i can tell which orders suck outright, which orders are simply things i was already thinking or doing, and which orders are solid plays that need me (among others) to join in for them to succeed. this is really sort of tangential to the discussion, however. the truth is it is just about looking cool.
