I foresee the time when all gaming accounts are tied to a security key fob. Anyone gets to create an account and you have a grace period while they mail you your fob. After that, if you get caught breaking the TOS with a ban able offense, all accounts associated with that security key go bye-bye....

In 10 years, very few people will be using hardware fobs - especially ones where you don't control the crypto seed file yourself. Mobile auth (Duo, GA, CryptoCard, Safenet, etc.), on the other hand, will likely be standard.

Credit cards go against every aspect of their financial strategy.
The concept here is that they provide a good easy to access free experience and then people decide to spend money on it because they like it.

Using phone numbers to test banned banned accounts is legitimate. I'm sure they could figure out a way to use that and I think it would work.
Credit Cards is a really bad idea, that's all I got to say, cause you didn't specify debit cards, and then you have to support cardholders and ping the accounts which costs money. Last edited by AThreatToYou; 2013-01-08 at 03:24 PM. |

Current hardware aside, my concept is still sound. Bind the account to the Crypto Key, and ergo the individual, and you are able to make people act responsible by making any ban hurt personally. |

Trying to track the hardware isn't really doing anything when anyone can login from anywhere. It might put a few people off though. Security in layers as they say. As for the ip and mac spoofing ... no one would need to spoof anything. MAC addresses are stripped and replaced as part of the process of routing layer 3 packets (tcp/ip) and most internet service providers charge you to get a static IP address. DHCP will periodically assign you a new address or you can just renew your address.

The quality isn't great, def getting what I paid for. They assigned me a number within my area, $0. [EDIT: Back on topic - I think that giving the community better tools to report cheaters would be good. So many other MMO's have cut down on real currency trading in their games by giving the users the ability to easily report gold sellers. Planetside needs to streamline the process for users to report cheaters and kick them at the first sign of trouble. Then beef up the automated systems as well.] |
