How to Fix Planetside 2 - CreditCards!!

What if Sony still required that you create an account with a credit card? It would still be a free to play game, but it would keep people from creating 100 different toons (maybe 1 per faction with a 24 hour cool down like PS1). It would also make people think twice about getting banned for cheating. For those without credit cards I don't know ...

But I like the easy access this game brings. Banning should be done at a hardware level. Thes cheaters should be forced to buy a new rig if they want to hack.

I heard the Russian publisher is trying to control these accounts with phone numbers.

There's no feasable way to do this at a hardware level. IP's wont work because 99% of people use DHCP. MAC addresses don't work because the layer 2 header is stripped at various points while traversing the layer 3 network. And just about everything else can be spoofed.

I'm not saying change the f2p model. Just make them register a credit card. It would be a problem for those without credit cards so there would need to be something to take that into account. Maybe make it a "Mostly" free to pay where you might have to buy a game card with a positive balance on it ... say $5-$10. You could use it for station cash or you could trade it back in for cash later. Not really sure what would be a good idea for credit-card-less people ...

Yup, and that's better than credit cards. Not everyone has a credit card outside the us, but everybody who has internet also has a phone.
