The gauss has not been gimped. It's CoF had been greatly improved at the longer ranges so you can make accurate single shots at longer ranges. As far as I do know they did a major fix on all the CoFs for the rifles so you are able to make 2 and 3 burst shots befor the CoF starts to expand. This imho is a very nice fix. The Phoenix has been reduiced. It use to have an 8 second life span (now down to just 5) and the turning radious has drasticly been reduiced from what it originaly was. No matter what SOE does it always seems that no matter what they do someone or a lot of people are going to have different ideas of how things should be in the game. The devs are working very hard on every aspect of the game to balance everything out so people will be generaly satisfied. As it was one said " You can satisify some of the people some of the time but, you can never satisify all of the people all of the time". For the most part I think that everyone has there own likes and dislikes about some kind of aspect of the game. Just know that the staff is working hard to bring us such a great game.

u know like bruce lee, "water in the ketel becomes the ketel..." and so on.

if the dev's think things are balenced than thats good enough for me.

Ok, I'm not going to read through all that crap, and I'm getting tired of ppl whinning about the phoenix.

If the phoenix is some uber weapon, then the DEVs will fix it.

And let's not forget, the NC don't have any long range weapons other then common pool,...... and the gauss.
So one other weapon, which don't forget, leaves you open for attack when piloting the missle, is in the game. Boo hoo.

I think they are bassically discussing fixes for what they think is an unbalanced weapon. I personally do not know if it is unblanced or not, but as far as talking about it, I don't see a problem. Besides, it gives the non-beta people something to read and get a feel of the game about. And also, how will the devs know if the weapon is unbalanced if not for the beta testers? If they wanted to test it to see if it is unbalanced, they would not have had a beta testing (*shudder* a scarry thought). Just my $0.002

EDIT: lol, I mean my $0.02. I would like to think my opinion is worth more than 20% of a cent

Funny a NC soldier says that.

No way should the phoenix or any other AV weapon do more damage to infantry.

Yes it would be realistic but it would also make everybody run around with strikers and phoenix instead of gausses and cyclers.

How in the world can you say that all opinions on weapon balance are bias? Maybe most or even some but, not all of them. That in itself is very bias. I've played each side and think that the devs have done a great job in weapon balancing thus far, especial after boosting the VS weapons that had been so long looked over.

I think the phoenix has been fixed, I saw my friend use it and it doesn't look bad. The gauss on the other hand.....the CoF explodes after 2-3 shots. I want to use it but since its for 'single shots,' I think I am going w/ punisher if the CoF doesnt expand slower. I would use the jackhammer for close range if it didn't suck so hard.

While I am busy trying to take single or double shots, the retard I am trying to kill is strafing and jumping back and forth and spraying with his cycler, and hitting me, disrupting my COF even more. At 150 meters mind you.

REAL nice fix we got here, oh yeah.

The Gauss was gimped


Comparison of gauss to cycler:

They still have a similar damage/second

However now the gauss is significantly less accurate than the cycler. (the gauss's CoF starts expanding after the first shot, while the cycler gets 3 shots before the CoF starts expanding. In addition, the cycler's CoF expands a bit slower than the gauss', once it starts expanding.)

In addition, the cycler has 20 more bullets/clip than the gauss.

Giving the cycler similar damage/second, plus better accuracy, plus larger clip does not equal balance.

Alright, how bout we make all rockets, cept for TR one, cause it can fire a lot of missles at once, be able to kill infantry in one hit. Make it like BF1942, allow one hit kills with rockets, and make the ammo take a shitload of space and weight in yer inv, that makes it very realistic, you dont see soldiers carrying about 30 rockets with them, and u dont se infantry magiclly take a rocket in the face and then kill the person who launched it, thats just stupid....

The size of the cyclers magazine alone has lost me quite a few fights. The insane COF on the gauss caused me to miss a few too many shots, and boof, I am out of rounds while he still has 20 left.

How does the Pulsar compare in all this? It seems the Gauss was hit a little too hard with the nerf, but I haven't heard anymore complaints about the Vanu's assault rifle.

I can only assume no complaints equals everything is ok.

^^^^Heh, I remember in BF1942 you could launch a rocket at a soldier's feet and he just jumps 20 feet into the air and lands safely...
