There does, however, remain a chance that we'll return and finish it. But not for awhile. Planetside needs some time to grow before it'll be worth the time.

And no, I won't post the script.
sorry but what other bugs?

I know you stoped i have nothing agains that, it take alot of work to do that stuff especial when only one person does it all bu quit givein out the bug excuse withough substantiating it

Hey common on now I did 13 movies

From the offical forums:

SOA was cancelled for really one reason----> TIME.

It takes way too long to produce something of that scale. Believe me I've learned my lesson. Keep them video projects small and have a life.

The small bugs Kaymon is talking about just equated to more time being invested. Something minor like graphic time warping during a scene with 40 people set up to do a specific squence just is bad news from a filming quality perspective. Gaming and filming are very different. Something that is a minor issue during a regular game play session is a major pain for filming at least it you care about how your film looks.

Any other filmers out there have any "large scale" PS filming projects on the go? I'm dieing to know what sort of time people are investing in simliar movies projects. I've read a dosen or so posts over the past couple months discussion movie projects starting up but haven't seen anything posted.

If you have a movie series started or made please post your links and what kinds of time you invested in your production.

I uploaded SOA episode 1 to my PSU webspace. I'll talk to hamma about putting it in the files section. As for right now, you can find it here:

The main problem I could see with SOA is the script was written like any movie would have been, not a PS movie...

In many ways it was too deliberately staged, like it was for an outfit that wanted to make people think they were amazing...

To put it shortly, the script should have been written different...

The only difference of course is that it was made by gamers (planetside fans) not film making professionals

Kaymon and Gus did a great job putting together everyones ideas for the storyline. Guess we missed out having some additional support from people like yourself.

Forgive me for being a professional writer. You see, I don't write PS scripts, I write scripts. Only this time it was a script written inside PS. It was kind of an oddball transition for me, really.

Take it any way you like, all I said is it was written like a real life movie, without taking into account the factors of PS...

On a side note though, what kind of professional writer would script supposedly professional soldiers to get out of perfectly operational vehicles equipped with superior weaponry when ambushed?

Theyve been through this.

Try firing a rocket launcher at the hood of a car. Now, if the car isnt a smoldering wreck, get in and try and start it up. Yes, youll soon see high ordinance rockets own many things, including vehicles. Game balance is irrelevant - MagScatter to the face = dead shotgun victim.

See but then it would have already needed to be damaged for the close up shot. Then observant people like yourself would have been "why is the Marauder already smoking?...why would they be driving a damaged vehicle into an ambush?...or even why did it only take one Phoenix to destroy it?" So we decided to have a little imagination and looked at what happens when an anti-vehicle weapon hits a vehicle. The vehicle is hit with 2 rockets almost right away. If I was one of the guys in the vehicle I would have bailed to.

So has any other large movie productions started up? How long before we see something?

*crickets*

'Professional' soldiers don't stay in an immobile vehicle when the enemy has rocket launchers. Go ahead and find anyone in the military, that's what they'll tell you.

Rocket + Engine = vehicle won't move. That's real life. You're thinking too much like the game, which is exactly what we avoided. (You did notice that the NC were using Rexo + Gauss and not Agile + JH, right? That should have been one big fatass clue)

Besides, even if we kept it true to the game it would still make sense. Have you even used a Marauder? It's a great 3 man transport, but...
