Sonovabitch!!! I was dling Shadowbane from fileplanet,started it at like 7pm and it was at like 86% and then my comp gets an error and restarts.Anyone know if its possible to start dling from where I left off and iff not a better dling site?

Tek, you play DnD. Why is the concept of gaining more hitpoints so foreign? Sure, its based on Skill and equipment, but in a fantasy setting, where physics and real-world applications dont apply, a level 50 should beat the snot out of ANYTHING.

if I have a level 10 fighters stirp down naked aside form a sword, and a level 1 fighter strip naked with the same sword, the level 10 with hand him his ass. Why? Better training, more skills.

In DnD they lack dodge skills. The HP are extremely balanced, and are used to compensate that. A wizard doesn't have much need for dodge skills, so he rolls a 1d4 each level for hit points, and averages 2 hitpoints per level. A warrior class has need of dodge skills, they roll 1d10 or 1d8, averaging 4 and 5 hitpoints per level. It reflects the ability to dodge and deflect attacks with your weapon.

DnD is often unbalanced cause wussy DM's and even wussier players go for the full dice roll on HP rolls. Chances are most games you played, your charachters had double the HP of what the designers wanted to be "balanced".

Now, taking this farther.. think of it this way. A level 1 warrior and a level 10 wizard. Level 10 wizard has 0 skill in quarterstaff, and a robe. Level 1 warrior has 2 points in twohanded sword, and studded leather.

Do you know who's going to win in that fight? The Level 1 warrior. In 1 luck hit, or 2 average hits, that wizard is gonna be flat on his back.

Now, if that was DAoC, that warrior could be level 7, the wizard level 10, and the wizard would fucking DEMOLISH that warrior. Why? Because with DAoC's retarded system, you can't even HIT someone higher level than you.

Same with everquest - it's fucking retarded.

Tek, your trying to compare DAoC to SWG, its apples to oranges in a way.

The HP system is fine, if im the max level, I kind of _should_ beat a level 10, its not like planetside. Besides, if that level 10 wants PvP he can go to the battlegrounds and fight people level 10-14.

Why? Why should you be able to beat someone because your a higher level? What the freaking hell does a "level" measure? NOTHING.

It's a stupid idea that makes a stale gaming system.

When you kill something with a sword, you gain a level.
When you kill something with fire magic, you gain a level.
When you kill something with a bow, you gain a level.

See? NO SENCE WHAT-SO-EVER.

You kill something with a sword, you gain skill using a sword.

If you've killed 5,000,000,000 creatures with firemagic, and 0 creatures with a sword, you'll get your ASS BEAT by someone that killed 50 creatures with a sword and 0 with firemagic if both of you are using swords.

IT'S COMMON SENCE.

If you take the time to read what im writing, and not just jump on it with "omg your insulting my game" or "apples and oranges!" you'll get what i'm saying.

The fact that future MMORPG's are moving in the skill direction show that developers, too, agree and that they feel non-skill based systems are simplistic and make no sence - and make for stale gameplay.

The game works as you get levels, you gain skill points that you can use yourself, so if you're a warrior and kill things with ANYTHING, you can put points into what you want to use, aka if you like swords, put it into sword skill, or sheild skill to block, or parry skill to parry.
The system works fine, you're the only one complaining.

As for what you said, how does that make sence? I kill something with a sword, and then I take that experience, transfer it into a "level" and use "skill points" to get whatever skills I want?

So I can use a sword for 3 straight weeks, and put all my points into healing magic, despite the fact that I haven't used healing magic once.

Yeah... that makes tons of sence.

The more you use a weapon the better you get.If you find a god like hammer but have like 5 points in hammer skill you will RARELY hit them and when you do its real low damage cause your not trained in its use.The more you use magic the better your get at it and more chance of success,not more damage just more success.Each lvl you gain in an area equals 1/10 of a real lvl.So you would have to raise your sword skill 10 levels to get a character level.If you got X-Box pick this up for sure,it was GOTY and is like 15-20 and had 100s of hours of gameplay
