I don't think that's right Scotias, I think you've merged two features there. The spawn on squad leader ability with the leadership tree and being able to spawn in a Galaxy are seperate I believe.

Ah sorry about that, confusing things even more for others amn't i

So Galaxies are replacing AMS? Sure i heard somewhere that there will be no AMS in PS2, but don't quote me on it

Hopefully the increased cooperation they're aiming for in PS2 will help with this.

Nah they should keep it the same then, it's a tradeoff. Otherwise you'd have a flying mobile spawnpoint that was hard to counter. Mobile spawnpoints should be relatively easy to counter.

Also, this is why you flew them with escorts, it's harder to deal with a galaxy that has a few mosquitos protecting it. Unless you're an AA max.

Or if you were a sadistic galaxy pilot like I was during my brief stint you could just boot nonessential personnel out one by one and watch the reavers go chase them down for the easy kills while you flew away. It was the perfect killhungry noob Reaver pilot countermeasure.

I think they are as well and I think the concern of them being mobile, in flight spawn points may be undeserved if these new flight mechanics are really based on skill as was said.

In that picture of the gal, it's clear it has landing gears and no indication of VTOL characteristics. So if it has to remain in flight to be operational, to drop players on targets consistantly it would have fly over and circle back to those targets rather than hover over them. Time consuming.

Where-as an AMS can provide close, consistant spawning support more beneficial to frontline warfare than a Galaxy.

Not sure I agree with this. If you give the gal the ability to continuously spawn troops, it will instantly become a much more valuable target to remove from the battle. The AMS had a lot going for it that helped it stay on the front lines for extended periods of time. A big slow moving spawn point in the sky will draw fire from everyone on the ground with an AV weapon.

I guess it's probably something that's going to have to be worked out in beta. As a reaver pilot myself, I found it extremely easy to sit on a gal's 6 o'clock position, and dump missiles on it from just above the range of motion that the rear facing guns allowed.

A highly specialized leader may not be able to afford a Galaxy, though. So I'd guess it might be more like "in a Galaxy with them".

Although I think that could sort of also be a very deep Galaxy specialization too. Be a badass enough Galaxy pilot and you can have your squad mates spawn inside.

EDIT: Just noticed there had been a fair share of posts and I had not refreshed the page before writing this.

all I can say is mobile spawn points are bad. there is a reason why things like the AMS should need to be deployed.

The AMS will still exist, I don't think the Galaxy will replace it. I would assume it would be a squad only thing rather than everyone can spawn at it. I am just speculating at that though.

And I don't think it needs more defenses, the Galaxy should always fly with an escorte - teamwork ftw.

I am afraid that they are going to make the spawning more like other games. Now, a drop pod to the squad leader, isn't so bad. That is cool. But we still need AMS's and the like. Popping into a squad Gal in route wouldn't be a bad thing, but I am afraid of Gals up above constantly dropping troops. Though, it may not be that bad provided we get plenty of AA and the like.

Yea I agree, I am hoping that spawning will be restricted in some way so there's not an unlimited spawn up there spawn alt-g spawn alt-g etc.

best way would be spawning taking resources, and the gal can only carry so many.

This would limit it, and definitely make it not a tool for zerg use.

Galaxy spawning would be a nice Outfit Specialization ability
