Well, considering military vehicles pretty much are computer driven. Especially air-born vehicles have no manual control nowadays (commercial airlines as well). Since they have a radio transmitter as well the only thing that you need to do is hack into it and replace the firmware of a bunch of components, and maybe reroute a few wires.

Sorry, is realism the issue here? We hack with a beam of light, so I don't think it's a stretch to be able to remotely control a vehicle.

Slghtly OP idea - HUD is replaced with Justin Biebers photo.

But on a slightly more serious note - the next time a vehicle weapon is fired, it causes a temporary vehicle power down, similar to EMP strike.

OR

The next time a vehicle weapon is fired, cause ammo storage to explode, damaging the vehicle and removing most of its ammo.

Hacking max suits, too.

Hacking enemy players, so they are zombies you control and make them do terrible things.

Hacking the trees. So they grab people and eat them.

Hacking the rocks so they roll uphill and attack players, like those games that use gravity guns.

Hack the sun so it falls out of the sky in a huge fireball and obliterates the enemy base.

Hack enemy weapons you find so when the enemy picks them up, the barrel twists around and shoots them in the face!

Hacking enemy hackers so when they hack stuff it turns into fruit-loop dispensing bunnies that hop around, breed like mad, and bury the enemy hacker in a mountain of furry wonderfulness. That only he can see, so his friends will think he's on something.

Hacking the weather! OMG Aweseome! Little rain clouds that only follow individual enemies around!

The problem with both of those is that people would simply fire a shot before setting off if they'd left their vehicle unattended, to make sure they weren't hacked.

You used to be able to use the hacking tool on people, although it wouldn't actually do anything.

Good point.

Could be IFF activated, so it activates when aiming at an enemy. Getting a little complex tho.

Identify Friend-Foe being flipped (ie. you show up as an enemy on the radar) so that beyond-visual attacks and automated weapons attack the vehicle.
Vehicle blows up when someone uses the hacked position (ie. if it's a gunner spot using the associated weapon).
Vehicle looses power randomly or after a set period of time.
Vehicle deconstructs after a random period of time (think full galaxy deconning while over deep water)....

And my all-time favorite; crew and passengers lose control as the vehicle stops and a voice with a Russian accent says "I lost a bomb, do YOU have it? MUAHAH" right before it cut-scenes to the vehicle exploding in a mushroom cloud taking out itself, all personnel, and anyone within a 50 meter radius. The ultimate Crazy Ivan...

If hackers can mess with vehicles, then AV should be able to blow open doors.

Doesn't that suffer the same issue of people being able to tell they're hacked before they've even set off?

Random times of your turret turning by its self or vehicle turning/speeding/or stopping by itself. Seems annoying enough.

All controls are reversed, IE forward is left turn and changes this configuration every few seconds so you cant memorize the new way it is

Vehicle also firing its weapons randomley

Complete immobolization for say 5 minutes or more until another hacker removes it

Vehicle randomally shutting down for few seconds

Overload:Vehicle begins to overheat to the point of explosion. All occupiants inside are damaged per second until they leave the vehicle or the vehicle explodes killing its occupients and heavily damaging nearby objects/players

Delayed Virus:A virus set to a specific time or until activation of the hacker performing any of the above examples. Imagining hacking a Galaxy and it taking off full of players. Press a button, and watch from below
All the ones that are greyed out are effects that people could detect before they'd set off. The orange ones are effects that would only work if they required being hit by an enemy or something to trigger.

Complete immobilization would work, but it'd be rather boring most of the time.

A time bomb that people can only detect if they've gotten inside sounds potentially fun. I'm thinking of all the vehicles left abandoned while fighting is going on indoors.

A timed virus probably has the most promise, though something that'll kick in after the hacker's long lost visual of the vehicle probably wouldn't be as satisfying as results they can see.

The voice-over aside, this could actually be fantastically fun. Upon hitting the acceleration, the driver gets an alarm/warning that the machine's been hacked, at which point stopping the vehicle - or perhaps letting it go under X MPH - causes the vehicle to explode ("Speed", anyone?)
