I think like how the cloaker could chose what type of cloak he wants, ther will probibly be some type of certing for what type of jetpack you want, if there is something from a hover type jet pack or a jump pack.
One thing with the hover jetpack, I can see the person become nothing more than a mid air target. |

Thats because typically if you were going light assault in-game in PS1, you were complimenting it with medic, engineering, or whatnot. They have to throw in a jetpack for them, when in all honesty our vanu max's should have it.

It's kept me entertained for 3-4 months now but public grinding is wearing off a bit. Cannae wait fer PS2 like! |

Based on the superman part, I think that Goldeh was talking about flying more like in Dark Void than in Tribes.
There are already sidegrades planned for the jetpack, like longer glide times at the expense of vertical lift. I'm not sure what a good tradeoff would be for extending flying and maneuvering, and it would require a whole new set of animations and flight dynamics, so while it sounds fun in some ways, I don't think this idea is realistic. I'm not too worried about LA being fun or effective though. Even with what little we've seen of them so far, they already look to be one of the most dangerous straight up combat classes in skilled hands. |

I loved Tribes, and it was a great game...
Jetpacks too much like in Tribes, however, would just be stupid in Planetside2. Tribes had the advantage of skiing and speed, without that flying just makes you a very obvious target and Reaver-roadkill. |
