Priceless.. sorry for the false advertising..

Reading indicates exactly what the poll question is. The poll and thread are the exact same thing because Don Ferrone = PlanetSide Soundtrack

I'm always in favor of bringing people back for sequels. I hate when a movie gets a new actor in a role.

It's great that TRay is back from PS1.

I think that PS2 could have great new music with a new composer, but why bother? Planetside had awesome music.

Bring the guy back.

PlanetSide's the only MMO I've ever kept the music on while playing.

Keep Don. He already proved to all of us that he can create music that feels and sounds like PlanetSide. Why take a chance with a new guy that might mess it all up? Just because its a re-imaging doesn't mean that we should sack one of the best people that contributed to the game.

Don't know if he should be installed as the sole composer, but I think he should be part of the production process...

When i logged back into my NC character after being away for years and walked out into the sanctuary... FUCK YEAH!

Back when I was a youngster playing the game when it was brand new and didn't care about winning every fight, I had it on. It added to the suspense and excitement tenfold. Planetside had some of the best video game music I've ever heard when it came out. Obviously gaming has blown up a lot since then and there are a lot more emphasis put into the "cinematic feel" of games, but it still competes easily.

In the trailer, we heard a small tidbit of the main theme. I'm sure they'll bring some of it back, even if they don't bring back Don.

Sometimes I think "Gosh, I'm a nerd"
Then someone on the internet comes along and beats me by a mile.

(Yay, music, the more people that like good music the better. So not to knock you much
...but PS music being what got you interested in it? It's quite decent, but if those were your gateway-pieces your prior listening must have been really sparse...or you were super young)

The thing about Planetside is that without music, it has no emotional triggers. Sure the game has a premise, but not much of a story. No real characters, no long term deaths to worry about, and no global loss situations. The music is the only thing that really adds any sort of emotion to it, otherwise its just a bunch of friends fighting on a massive scale (which is still awesome).

I very much doubt they'll be using internal music sourcing, so Don really should get the nod. Then again Steve Jablonsky got the contract for Command and Conquer 3 and shunned fan favourite Frank Klepacki. Incidentally Steves music turned out to be awesome, but I cant see anyone recreating the PS vibe as well as Don.

Well it sounds like they may be aiming for a little more depth to the story than Planetside had, so we'll see if there is a stronger sense of atmosphere. Still, music is a big contributor to atmosphere in any game, so it should still be an important part of Planetside 2.

Don understood and still understands how to translate the scale, the emotions, the intensity of battle, and seemingly Auraxis itself into the perfect score. I recommend giving him more money to do more music for different types of situations and areas. Seriously, his music completely set the tone and felt like the type of music they might play in movies starring us. If the developers don't listen to the community on this issue (one of the most-voted upon and most agreed upon suggestions for PS2) then we will completely lose trust in the promise of community interaction and participation.
