I am sure the camo patterns would be different for the empires, not to mention that there is still the silhouette distinctivness.

I don't like that most of the camo we've seen so far take too much empire color away, actually.

Ok it makes people difficult to spot, which is the purpose of camo, but I feel it's going to make FoF recognition pretty difficult in action.

They really need to either show more empire colors in the camo skins, or find a good FoF identification solution.

FoF indentiffcation are ones eyes and common sense

+ if you get yourself into a situation where a friendly is shooting at you because he thinks your the enemy for various reasons, you aswell did something wrong

This was exactly what I was going to post, it's simply amazing. Also, the liberator in one of the videos I have seen either TB or the naughty NDA breaking one had the scheme as that MAX and looked insane.

Really?

Just watch some of the latest videos with "lots" of players in (like TB vid), and tell me that from a distance or with smoke/dust around you can easily identify who's who.

It’s an exciting day for the PlanetSide 2 team! Joining the development team from the world of competitive FPS gaming, Jimmy Whisenhunt brings more than a dozen years of shooter expertise to the world of Auraxis. As a professional FPS player and commentator, he adds a unique perspective that will help make PlanetSide 2 an even more exciting and kickass gaming experience. Here's what he had to say. “Coming to SOE to work on PlanetSide 2 is a huge opportunity to put what I’ve learned from studying what kept FPS games of the past so successful and incredibly fun for all types of players!” You can expect to hear a lot more about him in the future. Join us next week as we learn more about Jimmy and his work on PlanetSide 2.
A "professional FPS player"? Define "professional FPS player". E-sports?

Well that's the problem right there. Gaming companies cater to the wrong crowd. The same people who hop from one beta to another, they all have one play style: tweak tweak tweak.

Personally I like the idea of accidental FF. Adds a lot more risk to an uncoordinated combat scenario. Ya, sure, it's very hard to identify who's friend or foe, but that's the beauty of realism gameplay, it just feels that much rewarding when you complete an operation without a hitch.

But if the game/comminity really wants green names or some symbol to identify allies, then I won't complain, just please no red names or symbols above enemies unless engies put down some short range scanner, otherwise infiltrators will be just that much more worthless and ambushes will be non-existent.

Also sorta have to remember that in just about all videos this far, the fight hasnt been similar to what it most likely will be at live. The fighting area has either been artificially limited or just encouraged to "fight here" and the ownership keeps changing all the time so in most scenarios this far having anyone actually "defend" or "attack" the base has been quite a fine line, cos it's just been about everyone attacking it

With the live service we will actually have fronts and more clear idea on who actually attacks and defends, which also makes deciding whether someone is friendly or foe easier. Sure the people who flank or sneak around will probably still be problematic to tell, but I'd say it's gonna be easier in a real battle rather than one of the these controlled environments.

As far as I know he's a professional (as in e-sports) CounterStrike-player, and he was brought in to help with weapon handling, recoil, scopes and such.

This would probably be the first FPS game where the uniform of friendlies is going to be radically different. Gonna have to stare long and hard before pulling that trigger. Might give people a headache.

No they don't. E-sports players have a completely different play style than normal people.

I'm not too thrilled how Starcraft2 BN2 was designed completely around E-sports. Hey it's a game, try having fun for a second instead of grinding on a ladder nobody cares about.

I think the camo is fine. I love camo. Nothing wrong with it at all, I want to see more camo options, digital, tigerstripe, hex, for all the different environment types. Its a war game. I will be buying the camos. If you dont want camo, dont buy it. Friendlies appear on the minimap so if you FF it really is because you're an inconsiderate idiot =D

MORE CUSTOMISATION CHOICES!!! MORE CAMO!!!!
