This is assault equipment. I mean I see how cloakers could use this stuff when they're trying to run away but the intended use for both these things is to throw a defending force off balance so that they can then be more safely attacked.

I'm not too fond of the idea of giving JumpPack players grenades. Anyone who has played Halo: Reach knows how annoying it is for someone to jetpack over you and just rain grenades on your head.
Even if they are non-lethal, the ability to jump, throw a flashbang, then kill your disoriented target(s) seems a tad cheap on a 1-to-1 scale. You cant aim up as fast as you can aim down, nor as fast as some guy jetting into the sky. The smoke grenades i like, though. It hinders both sides equally. |

Why wouldn't you be able to aim up as fast as you aim down? My mouse moves in all directions the same speed. |

Everyone's overreacting, as usual. Two things:
They're probably glass cannons. That's the rational assumption. They have a flashbang and a light weapon... yes, they have the opportunity to get the drop on you, but if it fails, guess what? They're wearing a t-shirt and you have a rocket launcher. Also, as usual: Beta. Play it. |

Depending on what games you play, it is sometimes programmed to reduce upward aiming speed and accelerate downward aiming speed. I know on consoles in particular this happens, sometimes in PC games.
Its also true in real warfare in a sense, fighting upwards at a position is harder than fighting downwards. I dont know why that is exactly. But this mechanism is what causes Bunnyhopping in other games, its easier to aim downwards at your head, then it is for you to aim upwards at his. Though again im making another parallel to Halo. I just hope that the Jetpack dosent overpower the class. I dont mind jetpacks, or being able to fight while using the jetpack. I dont like being able to throw grenades while jetpacking though. In my experiance it is a bad idea. |

I know Halo does this, as does Gears of War, though thats a Third Person Shooter, i dont play CoD, i make a habit of avoiding that series. Just hop on a console FPS and aim up, then aim down. Typically you can aim down easier than up.
I can't think of any PC games off the top of my head that effect your mouses acceleration with Up/Down. Some gamers, like me, use DPI independant mice that overwrite the games sensativity settings. I'm not saying remove the class or any of their equipment, jetpacks are awesome. Just make it so grenades can only be used when you are on the ground. I am at least glad they dont seem to have Frag or other lethal varietys of grenades, or that would truely be problematic. |

Sounds like you just need to keep your eyes on the sky and shoot them down before they drop anything on your head. You're complaining because it's a tactic you feel vulnerable to, change your tactics to compensate. Heck, bring a tank

Well, i'll be a MAX unit, so he can plink at me all day while i light him up with my dual cyclers
I'm sure im not the only one who thinks that jetpackers chucking grenades from on-high is a bad idea. Even if you kill them, if they already threw the grenade (assuming grenades are a quick-toss button.), the damage is done and you esplode. If the jetpacker has to EQUIP his grenade first, so he cant shoot and throw grenades, then that is fine. They can throw them all day. I guess i should have elaborated a little more. |

I remember a writing experiment in 1st grade or something where we would make dashes up for a few seconds and then down for a few seconds. Your hand moves faster going downward.
But.. I don't think that argument matters at all when speaking about flash bangs and light assualt. Anyone who comes straight at you like an idiot is going to die. The problem presented with Light Assault and Flash Bangs is that the class is designed to reach areas other people can not and exploit the environment. Providing an environment exploiting class with an ability to "stun" or "disable" his opponents in a technical way could be too powerful. It could also very well make good teamwork and coordination highly rewarding. We need to know exactly how powerful a flash bang is and what it does. |

I don't agree that light assault having the ability to chuck a frag grenade would be problematic. Light assault is going to be carrying a rifle and wearing a flack jacket against chainguns, jackhammers, and mechanized armor. Playing well and using tactics like this levels the playing field. |
