Re: The virtue of PATIENCE.

It's not fair to lecture people about patience when at E3 they were announcing quite readily Beta would be live in TWO WEEKS after E3. It has been two weeks and all we have is the knowledge that Beta will be starting out with a small "tech" test and get larger.

Certainly not the news those of us that were watching E3 expected. If they wanted us to be patient merely stating Beta is coming soon should have been their statement.

They lied to us for hype, nothing more than that.

They never specified an actual number of weeks like you are saying. Besides that anything is possible for a delay within a game development. I've been waiting for beta, since the screen shots from early 2011. Waiting longer at this point isn't going to kill me.

If SOE came out and said Beta will be June 28, 2012 and no one got a invite or Higby didn't cut his hair I would be agreeing with you, but this didn't happen.

They still hyped it up like it was going to occur within a couple weeks and said much the same. They should have been more careful with how much they mentioned about the beta date and how much they hyped it during E3. Now I just feel like I'm being strung along and it's getting absurd. The reaction after the "announcement" last week being just 30 days for vets instead of actual info should be enough proof that people felt mislead. It's not worth arguing about though really. People over the internet would rather flame than discuss.

After hearing all the "soon" from all of them I just don't pay as much attention towards any beta announcements. I feel we are close, but I'm not going to rage over it if its still even a month away. They wouldn't be talking about beta so much in the first place if we weren't so close either. All I'm saying is people shouldn't be shocked by this not getting in so quick.

Eventually we can take comfort in the fact that Planetside 2's beta and even the game will be out sooner than for example Half Life 3.

Whatever game you are waiting on may differ though.

actually they did. at E3 Higby said CB would start in 3 weeks, OB would be a couple weeks after that, and release is scheduled later 2012.

personally this delay wouldn't be so bad if the devs would announce something, and if they weren't chatting it up on twitter 24/7 like school girls. to see the devs tweeting 60 times a day concerns me. that much texting... come on, this isn't high school. twitter is a bad habit.

Has it ever occured to anyone that maybe beta already started and players are trickling in? The NDA would prevent anyone from announcing their beta entrance.
The devs never promised to announce an official start to the beta, they said in E3 that it would be starting in late June/early July and they said many times who would get in first.
They don't need to say anything since it will just cause panic and many people will be wondering where their beta invite is.

Most NDA's don't prohibit you from saying you're in Beta...

Don't really understand why devs like to keep people in the dark about betas.
If it's not ready, say so and don't give your fans "In few weeks" and for the next three month keep em hanging without any updates.

No need to keep wondering when beta is. I snuck into SOE and got a hold of the PS2 beta countdown clock. I put it in my signature for safe keeping.

Don't let Higby and crew know. It's trademarked after all.
