Not all of us have 3d audio and can tell if that bullet was next to our ear or next to our friend's ear. Suppression effect is another tool to help replace the senses that video games can't engage yet.

Go reread Higby's first post in this thread.

Maybe, we can have a big yellow arrow with the caption " The Emeny shooting at you is right here" Quick put this in game before WOW does it.

That kind of enforces what I was saying Higby, no offense. But I saw nothing beyond "mass players playing is better then a guy going solo" that tried to enforce teamwork.

I saw nothing that gave real suppression. and lets face it, there are going to be people who jump out and pop a headshot on the enemy because of how twitchy the game has become.

I saw nothing hardcoded in the game to give teamplay an advantage beyond "players mass grouping"
I'd like to see mechanics in the game that enforce and give more power when teamwork is being used instead of 2 twitch gamers killing one and thats pretty much it for teamwork.

That's why it'd be a different sound effect. You wouldn't need to know it's positioning.

Only read the first page, so someone might have pointed this out. But if a standard BF3 suppression was added, TR would obviously be overpowered since they'd be able to throw down a lot of bullets to suppress. On the other hand, the NC would have a tough time suppressing in comparison.

Obviously, the VS armor would shine in glory and suppress the enemies' pupils.

Not all of us have 3D audio? It isn't like it is that expensive to get adequate audio to tell directionality. And having bullets whizzing right overhead and pinging off nearby stuff and leaving impact puffs of dust or whatever is realistic enough for me.

Having something on the radar screen would, maybe, be preferable to having something on your main screen?

I don't want any sort of fake visual aids(I don't even like those red arrows pointing me in the direction of where I'm getting shot) on my screen, so if you MUST put it in give me a checkbox to turn it off.

Yeah, I really hate those guys that hog the doors like that. Take a look at your teammates to see if they're shooting before you take your shots :|

I have to agree with Newsith here, the soldier we play know that they are for better or worse immortal, I know that getting shot to shit will hurt a lot but they no longer fear death. At least I'm pretty sure I wouldn't.

Troops are also trained how to bare up under fire and the difference between real soldiers is they can keep clear thoughts and fight back even while under fire.

I'm against game mechanics that effect game play just because I'm behind cover and 3 guys are shooting their guns at me.

True, but that does not mean in the back of their mind, they have a repetitive "Oh FukohFukOfukfukkkfuukkk" going on.

I wonder if the dev team did any testing for the game with RL weapons or whatnot.
I remember back in Basic Training the Drill Sergeants shooting 7.62 from M-60's over our heads while small explosions occurred in walled-off pits all around us. I was grinning like a little kid (which I was back then...), but I didn't stick my head up/

Thread is too long, didn't read but here is my take on the OP.

I'm not really a BF fan and I especially don't like BF3, however the blindness and suppression effects were very smart and added a lot of depth. I would LOVE to see suppression in PS2 but not if it causes additional latency in large battles.

Seeing and hearing bullets whiz by all around me while hiding behind a tree was a perfect suppression effect in PS1. I don't need artificial blurring to tell me not to jump into them.

Having played many of the aforementioned games in this thread. I believe I'd only willingly accept a suppression effect being added if it was AFTER your shield having depleted, and 2 when you're below 'X' % of health.
