Higby told me to create a thread about this here, so here I am.
If there are any voice macros you would find useful in PS2, post them here. I think it's safe to assume that all the PS1 macros have at least been (or will eventually be) considered by the devs. Edit: I will put the suggestions I found useful here - there can be more in the individual replies, though. "I need a ride/lift" (I think there's a context-sensitive one like this in Battlefield?), "Move Up!" or "Charge" or "Go, Go, Go", "Take Cover!" "Get Down!", "Jump", "Take Defensive Positions" or "Secure the Perimeter", "Behind you!", "Medic here!", "Engineer here!", "Hacker here!" (separate voice recording to describe the hacker's proficiency - Advanced, Expert etc), "Gunner here!" or "Gunner waiting for vehicle" etc, "Incoming tank/transport/buggy/Galaxy/etc" for more detail, "Incoming walker!" (if it isn't copyrighted and if you're planning to introduce some sort of mecha in the future), Context sensitive directions for "Incoming" macros, if the player is aiming at an enemy - N/S/W/E, or "o'clock", plus "high"/"low", "On my mark: 3-2-1-GO!" (or any other countdown), "I don't have a shot" / "No angle" (for vehicle gunners to communicate that they can't make a single shot unless the tank moves), "Need ammo!" (useful when defending - I'm thinking PS2's equivalent of a gen hold), "Cloaker in the area!" or "Cloaker detected!" (replace "Cloaker" with "Infiltrator" if required), "Passengers needed", "MAX passengers needed", "Cloak!" (for those cloakers that forget to cloak after respawning), "Enemy in the base!" or "Enemy in the area!", "Enemy on the roof!" (general for hotdroppers and jump infantry), "Enemy at objective" (since there apparently won't be just one CC per installation), "Resecure the objective!", "Breach!", *Laughter* (indeed, this was missing in PS1), "10 Seconds till drop zone", "Drop drop drop!", "Give me a minute" (or something else that says "I'm AFK" but doesn't break the immersion - an animation for being AFK would be awesome too,), "Target left"/"Target right" (for vehicle drivers/gunners - ideally with an option to bind under dedicated keys; F5/F6 wold be a good default, for gunners at least), Was there an "Incoming infantry" in PS1? Also, I'm kind of hoping it will be "Incoming MAX!" instead of the more stiff "Incoming MAX unit!". Not directly relevant, but RedKnights did make a point - another area for microtransaxtion merchandise is customized vehicle horn sounds. Not necessarily melodic :P, but it's something that you can make a few pennies off. Last edited by FIREk; 2011-09-20 at 03:14 AM. |

Well, i do like the directional shouts mentioned and CutterJohn's idea is great. My ideas are more built around the old system:
A full "Incomming" sub-set: Incomming Max Unit, Incomming BFR, Incomming Magrider, etc. So for instance, V-I-V-T could be the shortcut for Incomming Magrider. (V = Main macro window, I = Incomming, V = Vanu, T = Tank) Or perhaps instead of "T" use "M" for Magrider. This might be better because of all the different vehicles. Also, Jpsousa4 posted a thread about this on planetside.com forums a while back: Voice Macros in PS2 Last edited by Crator; 2011-09-16 at 11:22 PM. |

"Incoming BFR" would be useful too, at least the voice recording. T-Ray at least wants BFRs back, although in a non-ridiculous, balanced way. |

This wins the prize.
FTWDK, this is from the book "Starship Troopers" We ALSO need macros that are heard over comms, but not blasting your presence to every enemy within 50 yards, similar to the way cloaker voice macros work. Further, we need comm macros to have that sexy radio crackle to them, and ones that are said outside the comms for anyone to hear to have properties that are audible that are dependent on the environment, like natural sounds. Further, make them quicker recognition. Tank incoming! is more quickly recognized, because the most important word, Tank, is first. Armor incoming! Incoming! could relate to incoming fire, enemies, whatever Air incoming! etc. Gunner here! Gunner for tank here! Gunner for.... here! Resecure! (do we really need to say "resecure control console"? AA needed! AV needed! CE needed! Repair turrets Repair doors (if) Repair terminals Repair Vterm Need rez! (this one can sound ghostly, faint, and only audible to those nearby or on that comm channel) Medic! Need armor repair! Need mechanic! Need (weapon type) ammo! Cloaker! Cloak! (to let cloakers know they are uncloaked) Full up! Passengers needed Max passengers needed Need bomber Max crash forming! Maxes go! Beware OS! OS! Enemy in base! Enemy at CC! Having a pertinent event no longer applicable, such as if the command console was already resecured, then "resecure" command would not happen. However, we can't have the "tank incoming" command not work if there are no tanks incoming, because that would be an exploit to find if any tanks were incoming! If you key the voice macro, and no one hears it, then no tanks around. Not a good idea. Enemy in trees! Enemy in basement! Enemy in command chat! (just kidding) Fire! Close that door! Move! Ouch! Help! Good work! Well done! A/S/L Reload! Repel boarders! Boarders incoming! Last edited by Traak; 2011-09-17 at 05:04 AM. |
