Its' certainly consistent with his statement from July that resources are important. If you need resources to pull your tank you will certainly be motivated to ensure those resources are secure. Also means we can attack their ability to produce certain things by taking specific resources.

I like the implications this has on the metagame.

I do however want to know how they plan to address the rich-get-richer problem this could introduce (and the converse, the poor-get-poorer). That's another question I had up there.

I guess they could give some bonuses if pop is low or territory held is low. Like, at low pop/territory held you could have 50% boost to resource gains (still supposes you at least have SOME territory), however this sorta makes fighting over territory due to resources sorta pointless, when the loser is gonna still get a good chunk of resources due to the bonus.

But yeah, the biggest standing problem is the rich getting richer thingie.

I think the rich getting richer will balance against the fact that defending their own territory gets harder and harder the more they own. Making it so that capturing territories of a faction that has more territory than everyone else will be quicker than capturing territories of factions with fewer territories would essentially make it impossible to sustain a larger number of territories for any length of time.

If the balance is right on this, it should make the fight do the balancing, as opposed to the resources. They might be the tougher, harder faction due to higher resources, but they still can't defend everything at once with ever quicker capture times.

I guess the problem with that that it's extremely easy to tell where are the people coming from. I guess it depends whether theres any form of drop podding anymore. But if your only way to the continent is through your foothold, you can be locked out quite easily.

Then I guess people can also had squad leader as infil, just sneak past everyone, go to the furthermost hex on the map and start capping

And I dont think that these cases will end up that common or the rich getting richer will be a major problem, but it CAN happen that a faction simply ends up losing too much territory to fight back properly and then loses the rest of it. It can be really shitty place to get back from after a while.

Re: Higby Ama on reddit

Right I think the problem could be addressed best with making holding large amounts of territory difficult. I've had a few posts on that in the past, but the gist of it is that its easier for other empires to capture your territory the more of it you have.

That doesn't result in resource handouts but rather essentially means it might take you less resources to capture it, or make more behind-the-lines stuff practical.

I sorta doubt the biggest problem in taking over a territory is how long the hacking takes. And I'm not sure how else could it be made harder to defend/easier to capture?

My nipples hardened noticably at the mention of infiltrators being 'gadgeteers', I hope there will be more information regarding this... Did he stop answering questions?

This doesn't make any sense:

All the implants are passive? All of them? Was hoping for some that used the shield energy, but that kind of crushed that idea.
