I just went from 512 MB of RAM to 1GB. I recommend it.

It makes a noticeable during the game, I find that I can have a further draw distance without choppiness. The load times when opening doors, etc., is much better.

It makes an even greater distance during load times and when starting/quittting the game.

Overall, I definately recommend upgrading to 1gb of ram. With prices as they are currently for DDR, there's no reason not to upgrade.

As an aside, I have a mediocre video card, a GF4MX440/64mb. Not the best card. My next step will be to upgrade my video card to a more modern value ($150 range) card, and I'll report my findings.

totally agree i did just the same, none of the annoying pauses for doors to open less frustration when running out of the bases when you play a max ive got a mid range card and certainly the only times my frames suffer are when it gets mega busy in battles - which it would do in any game with 100 players on screen

awesome, only have 256 MB of RAM and its miserable to play
and even though I do have a better computer then a friend but he has 512 MB it runs a lot smoother then I can, so I do recommend RAM and will be getting a GIG real soon myself.

One caviot would be if everything else in your rig rocked. Like I have a 2700+ with a 9700 pro, now I went from 512 - 1 gig, and didn't notice a change (other than in massive battles in beta) so just make sure you don't blow your money. Although, I'd say 99% of the time, go for it.

I have a gig and a half, and sometimes it gets really really choppy until I quit out and restart. As hard as I try, I cannot fix that crap Is it just a memory leak on the part of the program, or is the problem on my end?
