Hey, suppose I buy a 9800 Pro, but I only have a mobo that's been supplied with my Gateway comp, and it's 4x AGP

Do you guys foresee any problems? I heard that all 8x AGP cards will just run at 4x AGP if put in a 4x AGP slot, but I wanna hear what you guys think about it

I say that I think they are backwards compatable but that the voltage may be wrong on your piece of shite gate way mobo.

cool, but another thing

i just read that ATI recommends a 300 watt power supply, but i have only a 250 watt, will it make that much of a difference?

8x agp cards are fully backwards compatible to 4x and 2x. You wouldn't see much of any difference between 4x and 8x either. AGP is pretty worthless, especially if you have a gig of ram.

well it depends, what are the full specs of your comp? I mean its always better to have a nice big power supply just in case, but it could still work fine..
