Recently, the graphics for PS, BF1942, and... Well, all my games have been b0rking up on me. They're all jittery and choppy. Note: this only happens in games, not in any other program. I've tried this and that and nothing seems to work. I've taken some screenshots of in-game graphics and menu graphics (server list, dialog boxes). Here they are:

Did you recently install ANYTHING new?
Has it been a lot hotter outside recently? Computer stats would help too btw.

I did re-install BF1942 recently, and it has been quite hot outside.
Btw, sorry for the non-specificness of that post (added screens), I didn't view the sticky of what to post. Also, seeing as I got my computer costum made, and recieved it at Christmas, I have little knowledge on it and can't get any decent information. The only really useful thing I can tell you is that I have a GeForce 4 MX 420 graphics card. If you do, however, need any other essential information, I can do some work to find out. Of course, I know the obvious things like the manufacturer (Dell) operating System (Windows XP: Home Edition) CPU type (Dell Dimension 4550) speed (1.80 GHz) and RAM type/quantity (768 DDR SD RAM PC 2700). Hello,
First off, make sure you have the latest drivers. What video card do you have? What drivers are you using verison wise and where did you get them? Make sure you have the latest drivers. Your drivers could be screwed, but I suspect this is a hardware/overheating issue more. Do you only have access to one computer? Maybe bring your video card over to a friend's house. It needs to be tested in another machine. From the ss's you gave, it looks like your video card is either overheating or on its last leg and about to die. Does the machine have those glitches as soon as you turn it on and run the game? For example, can you shut the machine off entirely, leave it off for a night of sleep, get up and start a game, and the glitches are automatically there? Does it take a while of playing instead to make them appear? Here's what you should do: 1. Make sure you have the latest drivers and they are good. 2. Make sure it isn't a heat issue by checking the temperature of the inside of the computer and putting extra fans on the machine. Use a standalone room fan pointed at the opened case for a cheap test if you really think it is heat. Let the machine sit over night as I suggested also. 3. Try to test the card in another computer. The glitches from the ss's make me seriously believe it is most likely a heat issue. If that isn't the case, then my next best guess would be the video card is nuked. It isn't too uncommon, and I've had a few in my computer career just bite the dust out of no where. Let us know what you find! Good luck, |

I strongly believe that it's an overheating issue... Seeing as I know I have the latest drivers and it has been oddly hot in my room. Luckily, I have a desk fan that I can prop up while I try to find something to do off my computer (which should be a magical adventure!)
Anyway, thanks a lot. |

Crono,
Go to this ezboard and follow the instructions for getting your computer specs for us: Click Here If you are not on ezboard, go to this web site and download the "AIDA32 - Personal System Information" program: Click Here Install the program, run it, and then post your information here. Admins, it might be a good idea to get everyone requesting help here to do this. The AIDA program makes people who are not technically inclined able to quickly and thoroughly give their computer specs to us technical folks. It makes troubleshooting problems a ton easier. Maybe sticky the information in a post? Thanks, |
