When Emerald goes all screwy I play toons on the other servers. Well as all you Emerald folks know... Emerald gets screwy quite a bit.
Anyways, I have a baby BR8 Inf. I've noticed an odd bug in regards to other enemy Infs. Once in a blue moon(has happened to me 3 times total) the name of an Enemy Inf will pop over their head and stay there. Even when they are completely still. This might be a bug that everyone experiences, but oddly I've only encountered it with my Inf. Its basically like a big warning light "Hey! Enemy Inf right over here! You don't even need darklight!" Anyone else had this happen? |

This could be due to a Mosquito.

Actually, it's not a bug or a Mosquito
The Skeeter's radar only places the enemies on your minimap. It doesn't show the names of enemies. What you are seeing is a foolish infil that has triggered a motion sensor. Motion sensors are specifically designed to combat Infiltrators. They do 4 things: Increase range of spitfires Allow wall turrets to auto-fire on infantry Reveal infiltrators, by placing them on the minimap and placing thier name and health bar over thier heads. And you just thought they looked pretty |

I have to dissagree with NiteTiger. In the middle of nowhere... miles away from civillization, flying a skeet I can spot infils on my map.... and when placinf my targetting reticule in or near the suspected infil, filled area names will appear. I am also 99.97% sure there is no Motion Sensor around... that .03% is the possiility of bugged invisible motion sensors.

I don't know if you noticed it or not, Blakky, but you actually agreed with me
Noone else whould have been able to see the name, unless they had thier reticle on the target. Motion sensors actually show the name at the same range your teammates names show- if you are looking anywhere near them. So what you see is just a redname easing down the hall, quite amusing to see actually, because if the infil didn't see the motion sensor, he still thinks he's safe. Quite fun to watch |

That happened to me once. I had just spawned in a crowded base and saw an enemy name in the corner. I thought it was a bug, but I still emptied a few Jackhammer rounds into it just incase. Shure enough, an enemy infl fell to the ground. I thought it was due to the darklight Icon by his name. Mabey dl does show up above infl's heads. The mossy / motion sensor theory sounds better, though.

Motions dont work on crouching infils, mosq works in everything, and yes, if mosq radar is picking up infil you have big shiny red name floating in middle of thin air, and yes you will die fast.
Motion sensors are bit waste, normal grunts just shoot them (no hitpoints), infils just crouch walk, so spits and motions wont notice you, only thing that stops infils really is extensive minefields, and EMP 'nade clears alot of them. All i plant these days with my combat engineer is mines. Spits dont kill anyone and motions are pretty much waste of time to deploy. |
