------------wARNING--------------n00b alert!---------------------
Hey everyone, I've been a long time Everquest player (4 years in fact) and i'm just getting bored of it. I've been looking for a new game to play. I played UT2k3 for quite some time but then missed the MMO scene. So I tried Shadowbane (which sucked). Then went back to EQ. Planetside seems like a mix of EQ AND UT2k3. I was hoping that the people of this forum will enlighten me and give me some information on the game. Here are a few questions: -are there quests (or whatever they would be called in this game) -You kill to get xp? but you don't get levels, u get ranks? right? -Is the game confusing at first? Hard to understand? ALOT to learn? -Is there a better server than another? -Do you get better armor/weapons by killing things that drop armor/weapons? I appreciate any replies to my post. I'm really hoping to get the game! Thanks, Gh0st-X

Yes, there are quests in PS.... you try to go and capture bases, ultimatly trying to capture a continent and make it your empires color.
Yes, you kill you get exp, that boost your Battle Rank You can also get exp from capturing bases and looking at new things <you can only go to br20> You can also get Command Ranks from leading squads, you get command experience for base captures instead of battle experience <you can only go to cr5> The game is a little confusing at first, you need to get a feel for the game, and its strategic on how you play.... and how you spend you certs may confuse you.. hehe its confused me - There is ALOT to learn as a beginner, you dont just want to pop into instant action as a br1, I advise you to go to the training room and practice your shot on different units There is no better server then another, its just that they have have different server locations

Thanks for the tips so far.
Now, I was REALLY good at rainbow 6, Half life, UT2k3, QuakeIII, etc. For the most part will I be good at this game? Fighting wise??

1. Blow stuff/people up/away, capture bases/towers/continents
2. Yup 3. Bah 4. Only go on Emerald if you're Terran or looking for a challenge. Look at all the Terrans on these forums, if you don't believe me. 5. Not armor, and you need to be certified to use the weapons you looted. That's it for loot. Should do fine when you adjust. |

If you have played any FPS then you should have no problem being good at this game IMO.
But really, whether you can kill or not, you'll find a home in this game somewhere. It may be a driver of some vehicle, a support role (engy, medic, infil), or be a commander of some sort if you worked at it. |
