Points for Defending every 15 minutes

I good way to get players to defend a base succesfully is to add the abilty to get up to 2500 points every 15 20 minutes world wide. Works the same way as taking a base only half the MAX possible points and maybe 20 minutes long. But if the base is Hacked or loses power the 20 minute timer is reset. Heck maybe we could even go as far as to add 1000 points for defending a tower if NTU is needed for it in a later patch.

Sounds like an excellent idea, not sure how the game works right now, but when I was in beta it would get quite annoying when you would defend the base for 30-45 minutes and not get anything out of it. I mean points not kills.

I rember way back when I first got into beta. It was arround March (I was a late entry) anyway my squad and about 5 others at max defended a base of TR for 3 freaking hours. All i rember was the chain gun was over powerd at the time and every TR had them. 3

(for somereason it posted before i was done) 3 hours of defending before it was over and got nothing. I don't know how it would work. Maybe it could work better this way

Example: Tr Hack a NC base. The 2 NC in the area fight for 12 minutes in the SOI before they can resecure the Control Console but the TR still have a tower and still want to hack it. If the NC defend it for 15 minutes succesfully under pretty good fighting they would get 2500 points the first 15 or 20 minutes. Heck maybe 3000.

Either way its the Beta of an idea and i would like suggestions on how to improve apon it.

bad idea. one big problem. - how would you determine when the fighting starts/when the 15 minute timer starts?

Just a thought, but I believe it already starts a timer when you enter an enemy SOI, to begin calculating hack XP. Wouldn't they just have to change it so that for every 15 minute period that elapses with fighting in the SOI, and a hack does not occcur, XP is awarded to the defenders inside the SOI?

no-- it keeps records of all kills and when the hack starts it gets rid of all of the recorded kills that occured more than 10 minutes from the moment of hacking. not great at articulating it correctly but yea.

Hmmm well the timer could record for 10 minutes before like it does now but what would trigger the 15 minute count down on defending?

Either from the enemeys hack being saved or started by another empire.

Maybe from a new system that could detect when there are a large group of 10-20 enemy troops there attacking (that seems impossible)

Or the best thing I feel is each SOI (inculding towers) are on a global time scale. Every 15 minutes it rewards players/squads in the SOI with Defense points. More kills more points little kills no points.

Ok here is my idea...

Constant time slices of 15 minutes, within that 15 minutes it calculates the amount of exp to be awarded.

Direct respawn kills do not count (to avoid the ams + friends)

Exp is calculated by worthy ennemy kills + number of live ennemies inside the SOI.

Worthy ennemies are either fresh ones or respawns of 10 seconds.

Trigger could be a hotspot (since my way would be exploitable ) As soon as a hotspot appears timer is started for the rest I dunno...
