Lightbulb Video Cards

I just have a quick question, which graphic card is better
the "GeForce FX 5900 Ultra" or the "Radeon 9800 256mb"??

Also do you know any good sites where i can order it from maybe cheap and/or good service??

Dont know which one to buy.

The Geforce

The new G-Force blows away the 9800 pro 256.......Not even quake 3 or halflife 2 will be able to unlock all the power in that new card....

well thats one opinion, and mainly the right one.

Although I have heard some disheartening things about the FX's i think that its the best with the pro 9800 in behind, but not blown away

As a 5800 card owner I have a feeling that the 5900 will r0x0r the b0x0rs of the 9800 hardcore.

The 5900 is just slightly better then the 9800 PRO.

To prevent another ATI vs Nvidia thread back up your post with facts like links.

oh and by the way, im now convinced on buying the GeForce (thanks for the help guys), but the only reason i would buy a Radeon is because im not sure at the moment if i have 2 available slots for it (im at work), so would a radeon really be that bad to get instead? :o

Both cards take up the first PCI slot below the AGP slot.

9800 pro is slightly better than the fs card.

there are only a few testswhere the 5900 is better.

You don't need a card better than a GF fx 5200 ultra. Until we get games that near mirror reality (near future), this card should do you best. Anything else is an accesory... by the time these games come out you'll be able to get something nearly twice as good with better bang for your buck.

Um... if you want there to be a little money left in your pocket when you leave the store I would recommend the GeForce FX 5200 or if you want a little bit more in clock speeds the 5200 Ultra, both selling for $100 and $150 each. They're only 128MB, but for a 1/5 of the price of the newest card available, well, I'll let you figure it out. They're both very good cards.

Just upgrading to the 5200 mentioned above will increase your performance dramatically to my understanding, but a memory upgrade would prolly make the big battles much smoother, again, based on what I've heard.
