with reinforced you have two rifle slots and more inv space. I personally cant do without reinforced as I have med assault and av.
I swap from Anti-personnel to anti-armour with the flick of the mouse wheel. depends what your style of play is though, if you are a dedicated driver/pilot then agile armour is better, however for a commander/grunt etc. who like to go into a firefight then reinforced will be more suited to your style. Its not possible in this game to say one thing is better than the other just like that. Each situation needs a different approach/weapon/strategy etc.

Yea, what they said, agile makes you go alot faster and stuff. but with reinforced you can carry 2 guns and.... they said that too. You can be reinforced and ride as a passenger in most vehicles. I think reinforced is defenitly worth the 3 cert points. Also... you look cooler with your reinforced!!

Reinforced is deffinantly worth the cert once you are able to afford it. Agile is always available to you, so no problem getting it if you need it. However, if you're going to be doing a lot of infantry fighting, then the reinforced will help you out immensely. With two rifle slots you can switch weapons faster than going into your inventory and the extra cargo space will give you more ammunition for longer time in the field.
Use your favorites and set up one for driving with agile and then others with reinforced. This makes it very easy to switch between the two. |

The first Vest is my choice, and here's why.
It's almost as fast as the inf suit. It has no rank insignia that stands out. (I go after those with the highest BR insignia on their armor first...they are probably the ones with the highest CR too.) It doesn't stand out as badly. Most persons see the Vest and assume you have a Suppressor. Most place you lower on the threat list. Even if this is a split second, it can make the difference. With Surge, you run REAL fast and REAL far. It seems to me that you also turn faster in the Vest. Most will say I get hit harder, which is the case. However, I'm a medic and carry the medgun in the support slot. If I can get a little distance, I'll heal. Honestly, I choose my weapon based on the situation at hand. All around, I'll take the Suppressor, then the Gauss. (don't laugh) CQB...obviously the JH. Harassing actions, I'll use the Bolter. Unless I'm doing CQB, which is rarely, I live a good long time, often running my Bolter out of ammo...or long enough to switch to a dead enemy's loadout. I often have the MCG or Lasher, just because that's what I found with the most ammo lying around. /rambling off |

Take reinforced, you can drive a basilisk still. And that baslisk is as fast as the planes if they dont have afterburner on. Plus your in a ATV so it's designed to go off-road. Taking jumps in a basilisk is one of the most fun things i've found to do in this game. Plus you've got the big chainguns on the front. The only problem is that is has very little armor. but speed makes up for that. A baslisks worst enemt is the rever or mosq. Followed by those damn mines on the bridges.

Reinforced is more helpful if going against a MAX or a tank is nearby or you're taking a good deal of explosive damage. Otherwise you'll end up dead with an extra 50 armor to burn. Then there is the speed issue you run as fast in Reinforced without a weapon as Agile with a weapon out. This irritates me to no end. Then there are the vehicle restrictions. It's all well and good that you have that extra 50 armor and rifle slot but, I bet riding in a tank will extend your life alot farther then 50 armor. For 3 certs you should really consider a MAX suit and pick your loadout according to the situation. I will give reinforced one thing though it does look bad ass. Definetly not worth 3 certs though.

Most people said it all here. Just a small addition I would like to make is that you can drive all "open-cab" vehicles in reinforced.
That'd be: Wraith Basalisk Harrasser Enforcer Marauder Thresher You can be a passenger/gunner in re-inforced in all vehicles(that have passenger/gunner spots) except the Liberator. Last edited by Cease; 2003-07-11 at 05:25 PM. |

If you plan on being a grunt or a combat engy, Reinforced should be pretty much standard issue. Sure, if your in Agile you can cram a decimator into your inventory, or carry a rocklet, but if you do you'll spend more time running back to an inventory terminal then fighting. Also, in up close fights that 50 armor won't do you much good, but in longe range standoff battles, its a godsend. Sure for three certs you can get a MAX, but a MAX can't hack, can't rez, can't lay down deployables, hell, can't even open doors alot of the time, and i have yet to see someone cram a Vanguard into the CC. Also, don't even bother to cert in AV if you don't have reinforced, it's just suicidal to bring a pistol to a Rifle fight. The only time i can be coaxed into taking off my gasmask is if im in for a LONG run, or if i get the chance to crew a liberator, otherwise, the extra speed isn't worth it.

I love my Rein armor. With Spec Assault and my Engi cert - unless I am being an idiot, I tend to live a long time. I can carry My Thumper, Decimator, lots of 'nades, REK, BANK, and that big Engi thing... and with Surge, you make a deadly foe. With Reinforced you just have to learn when to use surge, and when NOT too. Thats a big trick and takes some practice.

Actually Standard Armor has it's uses for sniping ...
- It'll force counter-snipers to take an extra second for target recognition. Since you don't have as much color it's harder to determine friend or foe. That and in some battles the enemy may only see your head sticking up over a ridge or around a tree. - It may cause aircraft to pass you by as friendly. Just like counter-snipers less color makes you harder to distinguish as an enemy allowing you to hold your spot that much longer. - You can run faster and longer. Allowing you to reach certain peaks that are otherwise unreachable to the heavier armor types. This can be particularly helpful in getting to areas that are harder for infiltrators to reach. Other then that there aren't very many uses for standard armor. |
