This is the feature that is making me not want to play lately.
Me and a buddy from my Tribe have been making a pretty good a pretty good tank crew. However, we have found that at several bases, when you buy a Vanguard, the colision detection is not disabled long enough and the auto-drive feature makes the tank collide with a barricade to spectacular and frustrating effect. The tank will usually flip 20 feet into the air, come down 50% damaged and then try and keep auto driving and do it again and either come to rest upside down or be destroyed, killing the driver. This does not happen at all bases but on several cases, it has happened when we REALLY needed a tank. I have a lot of pent up animosity towards D.G. because of what he did to Tribes 2. I am frustrated by what I percieve as his tendencies to "dumb down" features to make certain things "safer" and more "civil". He added a similar feature to Tribes 2 when people were complaining about other people stealing their Shrikes (scout plane). I prefer a more laisez faire (sic) environment because it makes things more interesting (you used to be able to hide at an enemy vehicle pad and jump in an enemy shrike if the driver was too slow - no longer). This punishes clever players and diminishes the prospect of emergent game play. I will stop here because if unleashe the flood, I will never stop ranting about these kinds of stupid features. Anyway - FIX THE FREAKING AUTODRIVE DAVE! I bet a mid level programmer could fix it in 30 minutes by tweaking some of the times involving colission detection ro something. I find auto drive pointless...especially for air vehicles, makes them vunerable for so long, if theres a guy with an AV on the other side of the wall your dead...but I don't post here about what I don't like, no devs here anyway, even on the OF the devs don't answer, Sporkfire sucks as a public relations dude

I could get things done more efficiently when there was no autodrive. I just hit the thing, jump the barrier and hop in. None of this 20 km per hour crap. I'd elevate enough to move forward in my skeeter and go roaring out a base with afterburners and everything. Now I can't do that because I'm too close to the vehicle pad. Some guy with a striker can camp the vehicle area walls and just blow up reavers as they try to leave.

Yeah, like tower NTUs, ten people maybe suggeated it, everyone else thought it sucked, but Sony liked it, and that's what counts. This Dave guy wants things to be fair for the little guys, those that are just a bit to slow and can't see the fairness in stealing another guy's vehicle.

I've noticed that too and it usually happens at Dropship stations for me. Autodrive is pretty ghey. If you can't shoot, you shouldn't be able to get hurt either. However, last night I was in a Marauder and we were headed for a barricade. I was thinking "Shit, this things going to explode" but we phased right through it without taking any damage. So I dunno....

the autodrive is pointless, i can understand the queue for vehs, and the transporting into the vehicles, but the autodrive is cumbersome. if you can't even drive off the pad then you shouldn't have a vehicle. and if some asshole is just sitting there and not driving away, blow his ass up!

But leave in the queue. It was a much needed feature, just have it tele you to your vehichle, like it does now - but let you drive/fly off on your own.

Lol, you can even make this fun. Lets say someone spawns a vehicle, and just sits there. After about 10 or 15 seconds, a button on the Veh term is available for anyone to push. When pushed, that button detonates the vehicle if it hasn't left the pad.
