Graphics card - lurching in battle?

Im no good with computers... So sorry if this sounds strange in anyway...

I will soon be getting a new graphics card.

Currently I have a Geforce2... However I have my eye out for this: NVida Geforce TI based video card with 128mb RAM.

In the majority of battles I get "lurching"... If I get this new graphics card will it improve this? Will it make my game go abit faster? Will it load faster? ... HELP ... Lol

Im looking to get more RAM to a 512. I have RD RAM and have to stick with it, and it's the best quality, however it's bloody expensive!! Im talking wayyyy too expensive.. But like I say it's the best quality so I suppose it's good.

Please help me

-Dan

could be a little lag, but i think your main problem is ram. 256 is becoming worse and worse where 512 is what every gamer should at least have.

the video card would help, but i think upgrading your ram is just as important if not more.....

Yeah RAM is an issue. A friend of mine plays with 1 gig of RAM. It's awsome.

I also have many reasons to suspect that using a narrowband (56K or lower) connection will have an adverse affect on your framerate (AKA the lurch.)

But yes, general upgrades will help as well.

Ya, this is frightenly true. seems liek nowadays you don't just gotta buy the game to paly it...you also gotta buy the extra RAM and new vid card tosupport its cutting edge graphics or massive amount of information.

is smart becuase he'll most likely won't ever need to buy RAM again. If he could afford it then, why not get it then, and never have to worry about it again?

I'd recommend a GeForce over a Radeon. 5200s run for $100, and $100 ,and ooh, this one's only $84, that's news to me. Good cards, great price. When you say TI you're prolly talking about a GeForce 4, and those for whatever reason tend to be more expensive than the FX cards. FXs are newer and have more features, thought the lower end versions (such as the 5200) perform about just the same with the GeForce4 TIs. Now if you meant a Geforce 3 TI, then forget about it. Lucky if you can find any of those around anymore, at least, I haven't seen any around in the local stores. Ah, those were the days...

His processor and video card will become obsolete before he gets anywhere near the RAM being his bottleneck, so yeah that is overkill =P

i dunno, those cheap mainstream video cards are pretty crappy. i know a few who have them and their thoughts are "this card blows" so i would stick with maybe finding a cheap ATI radeon 9700 pro somewhere.... no need to go top of the line and get the geforce fx5900 or ATI 9800 pro.... even though that would be nice for 500 bucks.
