Will this be mostly keyboard/mouse or joystick?

my guess would be both, I plan on getting a hub so I can have my joystick setup for piloting but use keyboard mouse the rest of the time

Hopefully they will implement a system where you can set which vehicles you want to control with Joystick, and which with mouse/keyboard and stuff, like in battlefield. This is just what I think, no idea if they have it in the game.

I've read that vehicles will be joystick compatible, not sure about infantry.

How did you setl up joystick control in BF1942? I've been trying for awhile and I can't figure it out.

1. Make sure joystick is hooked up and works
2. Go to controls and vehicle of your choice
3. Click the action you want the joystick to have
4. Click/move that part of the joystick

You will most definatly be able to use a joystick, when I played many of the controls customisations were still in the works. So I am not sure exactly when you can use it - etc

The only time I'd use a joystick is for flying..anything else would be weird..
