Dumb premise, weak chracters, and an ending you see coming from about 15 minutes into the movie. It's bad. In fact, it's possibly the worst major feature film I've ever seen, and that's including Battlefield Earth.

The whole basis of the movie was stolen form a Wesly Snipes movie called "Liberty Stands Still"

I still haven't seen Phone Booth.

I think the people who didn't like it either just hate the main actor or simply expected to much. I mean let's be realistic for a second, the movie has 2 maybe 3 main characters and 1 location, it's obviously not gonna be amazingly deep or have a superb plot. I like it and think that it's amazing that a movie with only 1 location and few main characters was that good. If you don't need the big explosions and all that carp and you can enjoy a smooth film than i definetly recommend it.
