I think I have played this violin 30 times in Everquest. Now the tend continues with Planetside.
Total stone walled silence, it's sad actually. Stealth Nerfs (Outfit Chat and tells were nerfed, can no longer speak while dead). Many MANY issues about the future, and stagnation that exists. I find it ironic that the trend continues, SOE's policy towards it's customers is PISS POOR. 4 years 4 FUCKING years and they still can't be forthright with us. |

How do you really feel about it?
I'm telling you, there are not stealth nerfs, they are just bringing everything back in line with it's originally intended plan.

I have to agree... TeamSpeak is the way to go in terms of squad/outfit voice communication. The in-game voice crashed way too many times during Beta, so my outfit moved to our TS server and many of our allies know how to grab us through it.
Not being able to chat while you're dead? Yeah, that is pretty lame considering that you can still talk to your team and tell them whatever you wanted to say. I can understand round-based games like CS or AA restricting chat like that, but PS is closer to CTF and those game modes don't restict chat because you respawn in a matter of seconds. As for SOE customer service... yes, it has it's flaws, but I'd have to say that it's rather high when you look at other games out there. A common theme with people pissed off by customer service is that they aren't treated special, like they expect the developers to drop everything they're doing to fix their specific problem. Though I do tweak out my system, too many times do I find people who cause their own problems... and it's relatively impossible to make *anything* compatible with *everything.* I remember that on CS the combination of a different brand of mouse, keyboard, and video card resulted in choppy gameplay somehow. It's impossible to anticipate that... Am I upset that some problems aren't fixed? Yeah... I suffer once again from a hardlock supposedly with my ATI 9700 that didn't exist in Beta, and after a patch I find myself locking up anywhere between 5-180 minutes. I'm confident that they'll fix it eventually... because SOE has a decent track record. Want bad support? Try America's Army... whose last patch a few months back introduced a bug that didn't allow you to pick up your teammates weapons as well as screwing up sound and being able to toss grenades through the bottom of doors. What's the catch? Two weeks later they have the nerve to say they corrected the problem on their end, but they're holding off the fix until a new patch expected at the end of July. SOE ain't perfect... but it's not the devil some people make it out to be. My two cents... |
