I am curious why I don't see more peeps with the personal shield implant. I haven't tried it of course. Is it similar to the NC's MAX personal shield? Can an infantry type have it and if they are on a wraith or basilisk does the shield work? Sorry for the barrage of questions. I am just curious. Thanks in advance.

I find it to be most useful for max units. For regular infantry the stamina drain is too much of a problem, as having one additional second before damage is not worth it if you can't move to fight. For a max, that second might be enough to deliver the killing blow to an enemy.

No one has it, because it blows. You turn it on, it lasts for a second under fire, at which time your stamina is gone and you're moving around at a slow, slow walk.

I personally think it's the worst implant, that's why you don't see it. Just turning the implant on begins to drain your stamina, and fast. You can't run around or ride around with the implant on, your stamina will be gone in a hurry. So basically in theory the shield should provide you with 100 extra hp, but since the implant is draining stamina while you're taking damage it will strip your stamina in nothing flat and leave you unable to run. Add in the fact that you'd have to activate the shield in the middle of the firefight and most people would much rather use an implant which will actually come in handy. If they change the shield to not automatically drain stamina, you'd see a lot of people using it. It would be almost a necessity, actually. As it stands it's horrible.

Darklight / Audio Amp / Personal Shield.
Those are the three best implants for a max. With personal shield you get an extra 100 or 150 armor (forget which). With it, you can take three decimator shots instead of two.. usually enough time to kill the decimator guy and get repaired. |

Personal sheild is great for snipers as well. Being able to suck up 3 shots instead of 2 is nice for counter sniping.
