As you all know I am on a 50 grand pension a year so i'm grabbing my ass for the moment....

Now... I have received a call for a job as security in a computer parts warehouse. It has hazard pay so it pays total a year: 200 grand..

Now I have practicly no training to do, being that I have my license for weapons such as a 9mm pistol, and that job involves me sitting on my ass and doing nothing until I hear suspicious something or the alarm goes off...

No uniform, a security pass, I can bring my computer there and play games etc. etc. on a T2 connection since the place doubles as a office too. If I stay with them long enough I can get top of the line computers for 300$ easy.

Now is it worth the risk? They told me that they are quite a few pacific break-ins but the last guy got shot in the stomach after trying to stop the guys. (they give a bullet proof vest now)

I mean I play all the time on the computer for alot of time... make money to grab my ass but I have the risk being shot... (again) should I take it???

I would take it. I would also get a better gun. Most security guards get really crappy 9 mills. Get yourself a 45 or a 44, they are much better guns in my opinion. After that, its up to you.

I have a colt .45 but can't use it, it would be against regulations or something... heck I could use my semi automatic hunting rifle! BUT NOOOOOO!!

well if i was you, i'd set up like a camoflauged spot around your computer, and play with no sound, then if he comes in, he wouldn't see you right away, and you could just camp out untill he gets near you then, BLAM right in the gut. use the biggest baddest gun they'll let you have and cap his ass. then go about your business. and you said 200 thousand a year and cheap ass computer parts? fuck man, that's good livin

Regulations? Pffft. Bring it in in your computer bag or something. The only way they will ever find out you have it is if you shoot someone with it.

Also, make friends with a cop who works the area, see if he can't stop by every now and then, park his car out front and come in and talk with you. People looking to steal things will tend to shy away from a place they see a cop car in front of on a semi-regular basis.

Will you be only guarding the place after work hours? If so, make sure none of the lightbulbs get burnt out, especially in any lights visible from the outside. Darkness makes people more likely to break in.

My dad used to have problems with people smashing bricks through his glass storefront. All he had to do was put up a sign on the door before he left every night that said, "Smile, you are being video taped". He didn't buy any video cameras, just that sign.

I would take it, I have to agree with the get the biggest gun possible sentiment, being outgunned is a bad thing. You might want to spend more time on the shooting range then you do now though, and always wear your kevlar on the job. I'd be more inclined if there were a few other guards as well, working the night shift alone can wear away on some people, and even if your not you'll probably be better off with them around.

After and within work hours... depends when they want me as I alternate with another guard who they wanna hire too (I will probly refer my friend)

But it's mostly night time guarding...

and good idea about the cop thing I have a couple of friend in the force maybe I could get them to visit from time to time...

edit: for the shooting range thing

I already do spend up to 5 hours a week in there...

Maybe I could get the gun in my uncles living room a good old shotgun... problem is if I damage the goods I'm in deep shit (if you think about it)

So... maybe i'll try to get that magnum when I get my check from my pension....

Another thing, make sure where ver you are stationed at is pretty dark. It is much harder to see from a well light area to a dark area and much easier to see from a dark area to a bright one. Like someone else suggested, visit the shooting range, get a good accuracy with whatever gun you are going to use (if you must use the 9). Thats about it.... Oh yeah, one last tip, don't get shot.

I'm guessing the reason why you can't use the Colt .45 is because its single action only.

If you love the grip of the m1911 like I do, you might want to check out the CZ40. CZ is a czech company that makes simple, rugged, and dependible firearms (I'm on my second). The CZ40's grip is based off the m1911's but is a bit fatter. Its double action/single action and it has a safety. Therefore it should be allowed. I believe it has a capacity of 12+1 and it's .40 cal. 40 cal is touted to be the best manstopper out there (yes, bigger isn't always better). I'd shy away from any revolver or magnum because you'll be limited in how much ammo you can carry.

Down here in Virginia I saw them selling new for anywhere between $280 and $400. I plan to grab one when money allows.

Hell yea dude id take it in a heartbeat,you get a gun,kickass pay,you can play games all night,and theres the thrill if someone does break in,hell man thats one hell of a job

That looks like a nice gun. Can't wait till I turn 21 and can technically own one. Right now I have bought a couple as... errr... presents for my dad which he lets me use and he doesn't use. Gotta love Texas, gonna get my concealed carry liccense also.
