There has been some talk about water based stuff. I think this would be intresting. But wouldent Vanu have a huge adv over everyone sence they have there hovercrafts. Also if there is water based stuff then you would have change the map. So in my though i dont think they are going to have water based bases. They might have units desinged for water like in the rivers, lakes ect. But pased that i doubt its going to happen.

When playing Tribes2 I always enjoyed the water based maps. Unfortunately they aren't as popular with the majority of players.
I'd still love to see this element of combat introduced into Planetside. I think there's a lot of potential there for new vehicles, weapons and gear to cert in. Sounds fun to me. |

How do you guys propose infantry/ground vehicles be made approximately as useful and given something as enjoyable to do as they do with the current land-based game? When people talk about the idea for a naval expansion they really never mention how they're going to keep people who don't want to use ships or aircraft happy. Whenever an expansion is released, what is added will be intended to appeal to all playstyles in te game, so that as many people as possible will want to play. If I play infantry exclusively, which I do, I wouldn't buy the expansion if 90% of my time in the expansion areas will consist of watching other people fight naval battles while I sit in a boat or something similar.

It would be exceptional to get some naval based combat going. God knows there are already plenty of chains of small, out-of-the-way islands to form facilities on. All that would need to be done to add water-based vehicles would be to create a "Ship Terminal"- which would probably open up into the water- and then add some vehicles, la the Skyguard and the Liberator. Of course, it would probably necessitate the development of a "Ship Center" facility to house the terminal, which would ramp up the difficulty of implementation, but hey, it would be pretty cool nonetheless. I can imagine a big artillery battleship that could blast land targets with heavy cannons, a light anti-air frigate, and a large carrier that would have properties similar to an AMS. And scuba gear! Scuba armor would be kick ass!
Woo, I think I need to go sit down.

Ahem, from Dopplers dictionary of modern warfare.
Battleship - Large floating target Carrier - Large floating target with fighters to defend itself/attack the enemy. Amphibious assault craft - the only worthwhile thing about the navy, stands back from safe range, sends marines in to kill everything, recovers marines when area is cleansed. Ferries marines to shoreleave.
