I would definatly like to see a new faction added to the game in the future (an expansion) that would enable you to become a merc. You sign an agreement with a faction and as you do jobs for them they pay you with equipment from there own weps and vehicals. Bigger the job the more stuff to use to make stuff go boom so u can get more stuff . For example a small merc out fit makes an agreement with the Vanu they get a small amount of vanu equpment for the battle and the rest the must rely on from common pool weps (prompting the creation of a common pool heavy tank) . So they go out and fight this battle and win. Vanu pays them more and they decide to either to continue with this agreement or to split up and go there seperate ways.
What do you think? |

Maybe in the expansion, and maybe they should include an economy that only applies to the Mercenary faction. An empire can only supply weapons and equipment, but the mercs get cash for killing and takeing bases.
A common pool heavy tank shouldn't be added because the mercenarys should be used as a compliment to your force, not a main battle group.

MrVicchio had a very cool idea that was similar to this that I really liked, but it got shot down, like this probably will .
Nav - I'll try and dig it up.

wow that was quick.
Yeah i was thinkin about a money system but decided it would be too much for the Devs to integrate with just one faction. They could how ever integrate it well with all of em. A soldier resieves pay for missions and accomplishments (few dollars for every kill or something) After a period of time he has enough $ to buy him self a brand spaking new anything he wants. (That includes other factions weps and vehicals+ the ammo for em that are availible for his use for a small period of time) This means that he can say be TR but for 4 hours be able to produce via the arming consols an NC AA MAX. This could be limited by making it availible by using a cert for it (one cert for vheicals and one for inf weps) This way you odnt have all factions running around with all the weps. Plus this stuff should be extremly expensive. |

Bombers and Naval Bases and ships in a giant ocean zone that encompasses the continents in a globe. While you can't just fly aircraft across the ocean without losing power, you can operate them within the SOI of a Naval Base, Carrier, or some kind of power field ship.
I don't especially dislike the mercenaries idea, but I'm really not interested in any kind of economy for the game.

Might work. Wouldn't fit the story, though. Everyone on Auraxis is suppose to be part of a group of Terrans, originally. The TR side are the loyalists, and based on what I've seen, they have a pretty strict "with us or against us" policy. I don't think they'd tolerate Mercenaries at all, which kind of throws the concept off kilter. The idea does have some merit, but overall I don't think it'd work very well. Who knows, though.
