I consider myself a useful guy. Reinforced/Special/Adv. Hack/Combat Eng/Galaxy/AMS. I built my character around being a support class. But the amount of destructive stupidity in the game has driven me to post this rant.
Need an AMS to secure an enemy base? Need an ANT run immediately? Need to do a hotdrop on a tower that's bringing in too much opposition? Need gear, a medic station, or wanna get out your vehicle? Well too friggin' bad. The moron behind me just destroyed the terminal. This topic is directly related to the Generator Do's And Don'ts I put up last week. Why must people continously destroy the terminals? Are they bored? Are they trying to help? Or are they asking for an ass kicking? Destroying a terminal renders it useless to everyone, and saps valuable NTUs from a base due to auto-repair. Why do people continue to destroy every single terminal long after a base has been secured and hacked into? Terminals should ONLY be destroyed in situations such as, you're inside a populated, well defended enemy base. This is usually only a case for Infiltrators and previous owners who logged out inside the base. Destroying terminals in this instance is a great way to hamper their strength. Another acceptable situation would be if you and your squad/outfit are draining the base's power in order to run it neutral. In these situations it's less likely that someone of your Empire will need the terminal. If you're simply looking to cause trouble for the enemy however you can, go fight. Don't destroy the terminals if you think there's a possibility a friendly hacker may have use for the terminal in the near future. Besides, you'll find simply watching a terminal from a dark corner and unloading into the backs of your enemies much more entertaining. So stop destroying the friggin' terminals, and let the hackers do their jobs.

Now the spawn room terminals I can indeed understand. Infact I've pulled surprises on solo MAX's inside the spawn room by quickly snapping out my Decimator loadout. But when people are pouring out of the spawn tubes, that's not exactly a secured base now is it? Last edited by Eliaas_Demens; 2003-08-11 at 06:17 PM. |

Yep, very annoying, espeically if the vechicle terminal is blown... Since I'm almost no use outside a vechicle (don't even have MA) it gets even more annoying when some idiot blows a terminal just before we get the base hack...

Sometimes people blow up things for the hell of it. Which is very annoying. When you ask why, the usual response is: "I'm bored".
I once got into a fight with someone who finally said "Look, I pay 13 bucks a month, I can do whatever the hell I want in this game, got it nub?!" |

Its extreamly annoying when the base is overrun with friendlies, but the enimies have the only tower(s) nearby. I think, "Oh well, more xp, I'll just hack out an AMS to park by that tower." But nope, some prick decided to blow the vehicle terminal for no reason at all and nobody (on our side) has any place to spawn from close enough to make a difference.
There is NO reason to destroy a vehicle terminal unless you're draining a base(and maybe even not then!) or the enemy vehicle souce must be impared(usealy a job of infils if they enemy is geting vehicles from it.) I Avoid the main population of NC on emerald because I cant stand shit like that.

AGREED. 100%.
What I hate more than anything else is people who distroy generators. Especially in a semi-secure (or anything close to) base. The only time someone should distroy the gen is if you are loosing the battle, or something that effect. I have stopped yelling at people who shoot at the gens, I just run in and plant 3 sweaper shootgun blasts in their face. Problem Solved. I have chased more than one person down and TK'd them repetedly for nuking a gen when there was no need. |

It really bugs me when people destroy stuff in a base that's gone neutral. When a base I'm in goes neutral, I'll usually switch to my engineer gear and start repairing the turrets. I work my way around the base and get back to the first turret which was just blown up by some genius magrider gunner. Even when I explain (using 1 syllable words) that they don't need to do that and it actually hurts us, they still don't listen.

Spawn terms should flat be DOWN.
In the past week, I have seen no less than 3 near caps lost because first there was 6 guys guarding spawn, then 4, then 1 and some guy gets his MAX out and routs the whole base. There are always other terms in other locations and they can be a risk, but less so. But the other day, a guy TKd me for killing the spawn terms when there were only 2 guys guarding spawn - thats just not enough. To his slight defense, the cap was less than 2 mins out, but it does not matter - an ENG (me) can fix them in less than a minute and my locker is stocked with repair gear. What I really dislike is people thinking THEY are the God given source on how to cap a base and if you dont do it their way, they TK you. I have no problem TKing people who shoot you or your vehicles, but destroying enemy equipment is 100% legitimate, even if it is not as strategic as you would like it to be. And no, I did not TK him back. |
