Does everyone hate infiltrators?


As an infiltrator, I have always gotten a lot of friendly fire, well, everyeryone does, just that infiltrators are a little bit more suceptible to the unhealthy side effect... death I figured I might blow off some steam;

Running along to an enemy base, I get shot in the back of the head by a friendly sniper...

Running up a tower, (friendly tower, uncontested continent) a person with sweeper is running down. I turn a corner and he wastes me in one shot....

I get shot down in my skeeter, bail out into a friendly base and a frienly vanguard lobs a shell right at me.

Just a few excerpts from my life... and now.... my mistakes :o

Toolin around in my vanguard I am typing and accidently ran over 3 cloakers.

In scattercannon I fire at an infiltrator hacking our base. I kill the enemy, as well as the friendly I didn't even see between us.

It sucks when a friendly sticks a shiv in your back, what have been your experiences in this regard?
(No going to mention in detail the time I lobbed a shell from my vanguard into a vanu tower and blew apart 3 NC who had just rushed in)

I wish it should always show a friendly infiltrators name over their head. Often times there seems to be a rather annoyingly large delay between me putting a cursor over one and me getting a friendly (green) name especially when sniping.

Hmm yep once a friendly infiltrator ran between me and in enemy, I killed the friendly then the enemy killed me.... Not to mention all the friednly infils I've killed in my reaver/magrider... But hey oh well, it's hard not killing a friendly infil once in awhile.

Well your running around in a tower cloaked and you hit a conner and a guy with a gun blasts you, he cant see your colors so he dosent know, a misqito blows up over a base with friendlys, they will assume its an enemy and waste you. just jummpy triger fingers.
Maby they should make it so that the infiltators on your side, have your colors in on them and you can see them but if there cloaked they will be a faded colors. but the enemy sees them as they would now.

Ya, especially when sniping this delay can be deadly for the cloaker. I have killed a few cloakers because of the delay of friendly name tag (lack of reticle changing green too). I usually give them a /t and tell them I am sorry, but they didn't show up as a friendly. It's frustrating, you don't want to kill a friendly (of course), but you don't want to delay a shot either because it could me a chance to take out a possible hacker and changing the tide of the game.

It isn't a delay, after a certain distance it just stops letting you know whether a cloaker is friendly or not. I've been on both ends of this, and it is really annoying for both the sniper and (especially) the infil. I've let more than a few infil slide just because I wasn't sure, but normally any infil heading towards me (and my friendly tower/base) gets shot and normally any infil heading the other direction gets a pass. This works out 90% of the time at least when it's in question. The rest of the time I will often just follow the cloaker for a while until I see which side he's firing on. Unfortunately this often means a dead teammate before I take the cloaker down (AMP can unload before my shot gets to the target).

Oh. Okay. That makes sense with the distance. I have noticed this being a similar issue while in a vehicle and about to fire on another target (undetermined friend/foe). Do you know what range one has to be in to see? I think a sniper should have the advantage of knowing. For pete's sake, he has a scope to zoom in at a min of 8X. Well, who knows, this is something they (Devs) will address in the future. This is minor compared to the other issues they need to resolve.

Just guessing, but I would say the distance is in the neighborhood of 200 meters or so before it stops letting you know. I'm not even certain that the devs consider that a bug, it might be working exactly as intended.
I'd be much happier if they'd address how visible infil are while crouch walking if looking through a scope. I'll admit that I've killed infil using even just the 2x to see them moving around while in a turret, but it feels cheap and needs to be corrected. They should not be any more visible than they would be if you were looking at them without a scope.

Well...but it is a delay. If I keep my cursor over them for 5-10 seconds it lets me know get pretty greeen/red reticule and everything. The problem with that is that A) Keeping a cursor over a weaving infil is a pain in the ass and B) you usually don't get to see and infiltrator for that long before they dart beghind something.

vanu infiltrators may think they have a disadvantage with the glowstick. well i think it helps snipers
I was sniping outside of some base on cyssor and i spot a juicy lil NC target standing outside near the main entrance. I was about to shoot when i notice an infiltrator behind him. I'm like "Maybe thats a medic or an engy helpin him, well more xp for me" I move my reticle over the infil and i almost shot him until i saw the glow of his knife and saw the kill. I later sent him a tell about how close he came to death.
course that also helps enemy snipers know who to shoot but eh,

I'm almost 100% sure the reason you cand identify friendlies at distance is a problem with the netcode. If you look on your map (the one in the right hand corner) after a certain distance the green dots stop showing up, and you can walk forward and the dots will begin to appear as you move forward. I think it's just too much information to send back and fourth.

Are you sure that when this has happened the infil wasn't running towards you a bit, possibly going inside the distance barrier thing? I've kept my reticule on some for ages hoping they'd get close enough and never had a change until they were a certain distance away, maybe I've just been unlucky.

In a totally not-sniper related incident I got into a firefight in a hallway with some Vanu when the game was still very new, very near the spawn room of a base. I was killed, but there were plenty of NC and TR still in the hallway after the fight. I spawned right away, grabbed a Sweeper and got back to the hallway as quickly as possible. There were purple and red backpacks everywhere, but not a single living soul that I could see. I decided to take the opportunity to loot some blue backpacks (this was when the JH was still the uber weapon). I saw one backpack in one of those little cubbies in the hallways and ran over to check it. I tried to enter the cubby and could not run past a certain point, I fired my Sweeper and my buddy dropped dead. He had his infil armor on and his name never showed green from the time I entered the hallway.

you Infs have some of the best timing I have ever seen. everytime one kills it, it is at the precise moment that I have an enemy in the sight of my Bolt Driver, have the shot lined up, and am about to pull the trigger for the kill.

and i don't hate ya cause you killed me...I hate ya, cause you kept me from killing that unfortunate sap that was standing perfectly still aiming a rocket launcher.

I wish Infils wouldnt run into friendly CCs cloaked, I've lost count of the number of infils i've seen die this way, but they still do it. FFS when you see on the MAP the CC is full of green dots uncloak before running in.
