Bonnie beat me to it, but didn't really have all the details so I wanted to post something myself about the upcoming dev chat.
I am working with Dave Georgeson to bring him back to channel #planetside on gamesnet for a second Dev chat. We're still working out the details as to when, but to use Dave's words it will happen "soon". As with the last dev chat it will be run by myself on behalf of the PlanetSide community. Everyone is invited and in the spirit of it being a community event I will be lifting the channel bans for this event. We are coming up with a list of questions to ask Dave. I would gladly welcome some suggestions from the people here at PlanetSide Universe, so feel free to suggest some here and I will check back to add them to the list. Keep in mind though that Dave is a busy man so choose your questions carefully. The rule I am trying to use is: "If I could ask Dave only one question, what would it be?" I hope to see everyone at the chat. I guarantee you it will be worth your time. CrazyMike |

Med/Eng tool questions:
How long does it take to resusitate someone? Is it just "click-done", or is there some delay? Ditto for fixing broken equipment (turrets and terminals) Once you've res'd someone, do they have full health, or will they still need to be healed further? How much health is in a single med-tool reload, and how much does a res use? And does getting the advanced med cert make you more efficient? (ditto for engineering and the advanced eng cert) How fast is healing? One-click-done, or health over time? Ditto for armor repair. I'm guessing health/time, but I'd like to KNOW. Vehicle questions: How are you handling the turreted one-person vehicles' controls? How exactly does one aim while driving (the Lightening) or flying (the Reaver)? I can see using strafe to turn the Lightening, but not the Reaver (which might be able to strafe on its own, as well as turn). I can see joystick + mouse, but what about keyboard users (poor wretches that they are). How do you reload a vehicle's ammo? I've seen what looks like a "vehicle-ammo" tab in the inv term screenshots... is that it? How big are the reloads? Ditto for MAXes Do turrets rotate independant of the vehicle their mounted on? Tank pilots in T2 had to learn "the art of HOLDING STILL!" (and I did) to allow their gunners to actually hit anything. There are modern tanks (Abrams for one) that does not have this problem. It seems logical for this tech to show up in PlanetSide's distant future. I can easily see this not being present for the buggy guns for example, and perhaps even the APCs', but I think the tanks should be a more stable firing platform. What vehicle has the biggest trunk? Just how big is it? What vehicle[s] have no trunk space (atvs? maybe the mosquito?) Certs: Do grenades need certs? Do vehicle gunners need certs? Ditto for wall gunners. Has the cert tree settled down enough for you to tell us anything else? Particularly tank & reaver pre-reqs? (and please, do tell) Weapons: Do all vanu energy weapons take the same sized "battery"? I just can't see slapping something meant to power a lancer into a beamer. This implies to me that all a Vanu's power is drawn from their inventory, which would be a huge advantage for the Vanu's energy weapons. Such an advantage could be balanced by other factors, I'm just askin'. What Vanu weapons have AP-AArm (anti-armor vs AAir) settings? We know the beamer can, and it seems safe to assume that the Lancer and MAX weapons cannot... but what about their assault rifle and orb-launchy-thing? Not to mention their buggy's gun and the tank's weapons. What vanu weapons are beams vs projectiles? What different kinds of ammo can be loaded into the punisher's gren/rocket tube? And how big is each reload in terms of inventory space? 1x1, etc... Does AArm ammo affect infantry armor the same as it does for other "inanimate health"? Command abilities: Have the command abilities settled down enough to talk about them yet? If so, what can you tell us? We already know about the command chats, what ELSE? Other: BETA!?!?! Have you got anything more on those nebulous "post CEP/BEP" awards for people who have maxed out their EP's? Are we talking badges (insert obligatory Cheech-n-Chong quote here) and medals and such, or what? Is there any equipment that a MAX can use? Grens, hacking tool, anything? How big are the various armor's inventory spaces? 3x5, 8x8, etc. Ditto for vehicle trunks. And yes, that DOES sound like something that could change during game tuning, I'm just curious as to what they are now. About. That ought to keep 'im busy for a while. |

Dude. I posted some questions. Thou shalt striveth to DEAL WITH IT. And if you think I'm gonna take back that whole fricken ESSAY, you got another thing coming!!! I think I'll just go with what the Hammster said. That was just wrong. Hammster. Heh... Hehehhh... Hammster. (I'll be stunned if I'm the first one to come up with that particular joke, but it's still funny) |

How do the TOW (Phoenix missles) missles work?
How fast are they, whats their turning radius? Is there a physical cable? If so when does it snap? If not, how long until the missile automatically becomes dumbfire by going out of range? What is that range? It's not one question but it's one train of thought.
