A question about the experience system related to Medics and Engineers.

Tell me, what exactly is the incentive of being a medic or an engineer? (I'm advanced medic/Engineer) Since I'm not a combat engineer, I don't get ANY experience from these certifications. What's the point of keeping them? You should get experience for healing/reviving/repairing other people. I mean, come on, that's preposterous! That's almost like ENCOURAGING teamwork!

You open yourself up to cheating by allowing experience for healing/repairing people. It's very simple. Shoot your friend until he's almost dead. Heal and repair him. Repeat process. The idea is that this encourages squad play (you share the kill and cap xp) where medics and engineers are welcomed.
Engineer is almost absolutely necessary if you're going to have any vehicle certs in my opinion, and it's also pretty handy to repair phalanx turrets that an attacking army believes to be out of commission. Sneak up and repair them, jump in and rack up free kills as they try to recover.
Get squaded up and stay behind friendly MAXs and heal them as they fight. You'll share the kill xp and you'll rack it up quicker keeping them alive.
Repair your own armor keeping you in battle longer, helping you to rack up faster xp.
The certs are plenty helpful. Advanced med is the only one that often times seems not worth it as people spawn too quickly a lot of times.

Well then you just get around the exploit. Have the game not give out exp if you heal/repair/revive someone if your own team did the damage. (It worked in Enemy Territory and Return to Castle Wolfenstein)

My guess is that would slow the game down as much as zone specific damage would, which they also have no intention of putting in the game.

Plus, the exploit is still there. Have a buddy start an char on another empire and meet up with 2 of you in a remote location. He does the damage to a friend, you do the healing/repairing. This doesn't work for killing because of the diminished xp if you do it constantly, but it would work for healing/repairing.

*shrugs* Whatever you say. I'm still considering dropping Advanced Medic because it is WAY too fuckin hard to revive anyone and no one stays around long enough except for squad members, and tha'ts only about half the time.

Yep Madcow is completly correct on this. There are still ways it could be exploted. Also I'm a medic/engineer and I like helping out my team, I don't get anything from it but it's fun for me to help them. Also engineering helps my magrider not die all the time and both engineering and medic help me from dieing because I heal myself. Well medic/engineer works best in a squad since you share kills. If your squadmember is alive longer, chances are he will get more kills. I didn't pick medic/engineer think about getting more xp but since some people don't want to help unless they get something out of it can see why they would do this. But I just go around helping out my team not for xp and it's very useful I think.

Also medics/engineers can help take over a base by healing and repairing people, if everybody stays alive longer then the enemy you naturally take the base unless your up against overwhelming odds and enemy population. You may not think your reviving, healing, and repairing don't help out that much, but if everybody thought that and quite then your empire wouldn't take bases as much.

Engineering/Medic don't give you exp directly, but if you are in a good squad, it will help get you exp indirectly. If your squadie get injured or killed, you can heal/repair them and get them back into the fight immediately rather than having them respawn 30 seconds later a good distance away. That way they can keep generating exp for you and the squad.

Engineering is incredibly important in base defense. What's the first thing that happens when a base is attacked? Wall turrets are destroyed. The base then has to spend precious NTUs autorepairing the turrets. If every engineer who respawned would go repair 1 turret, the base would save a lot of NTUs. I've seem way too many bases run out of juice because no one would ever help repair turrets.

You may not get XP for healing and repairing. But imagine the kind of hell you unleash when you revive, heal, and repair a MAX unit and send him back into battle. "Pwnage!"

Yeah there should be small XP bonuses for repairing and healing, as well as hacking terminals and whatnot. Not major points or anything, but something like that little orgy of XP you get when you fill up a base with an ANT. If they really want to open the game up to as many different styles of players (besides just twitch gamers) they need to have rewards for something other than killing and base captures.

XP is easy enough to get as it is.

One of the issues with this game is burn out and boredom. People ride the Zerg XP Gravy Train all night not really working for it. Then, wonder why they get bored.

I'd say that being able to fix armor of, heal and Rez your teamates. That is Well worth the 8 cert points. After all it is a Team game, right?

I always try and wait, unless I was nailed just outside a tower, and most spots were if revive I would just last 3 seconds.
only once during my waiting for a ADV MED to revive me has happened, well twice really, but the Adv Med was killed, and all I got to do was stand up one more time before going back down
I could understand why a person would not want those certs, (because ExP's) but those Certs are very importiant. It is no different then you taking a Vehicel almost out then some dude from the same Empire (not squad) gets the kill with a standard weapon, be cause his shot was the actual kill shot in the end, all that work and no ExP's.

well I have a question tho . .
when I am being healed, or repaired by someone else I see the
" you are being healed( or is it Your being healed or someone Is healing you) by [yourname here] for 32 health points"
who is getting that ?

No no no. They're healing you 32 health pints. So if you have 3 health, somebody heals you for 32 health points, you'll have 35 health. It's not xp.

If u use adv medic with a good outfit squad you will love it ... My outfit squads usually has at least half adv meds maybe more and the rule is u dont respawn until u know all the meds are dead.. this does 2 things:one adv med is actually being used Two it keeps your squad together the hole time

and about the med/eng not gettin xp... I can stay alive so much longer when i heal/repair therefor getting me more kills in the soi
