I guess on the whole planetside was designed to run on the absolute latest next gen video card. Smokejumper wants to put in Flame throwers in the game at some point in time.
Guess what, that needs to wait until the ATI Radeon 12000 comes out that has 512 ram on board and can handle 40+ Gigs of bandwith moving through it. Until then, play the game on medium settings, it still looks pretty good. |

I guess that would explain why when i run a Ati9700 pro on medium settings, I still get crap FPS.

You sure its not the vid card's fault? I can get an average of 170 fps outside on 30 ping with max on all graphics settings on my 9800. (all but shadows 'cause they be ugly...) Maybe you need another stick of 512 RAM or a faster processor to take advantage of the card. |

I dont find the frae rate too much of a problem. The problems i found can be summed up inot two areas :
1) The Hedious amount of memory the game takes up!, Ive only got 1/2 a gig, which has always been fine, but now im thinking of getting more just to fund this game!. 2) The server lag!!!!!!!. Im on the European server, there is only one and its normally quite full, slowing things down a long. When is Sony going to pull there finger out and add another Euro-server ? |

Wow. Makes sense as to why we are experiencing the FPS problems.
Thanks for the post.

I run 768 DDR PC3200 ram. AMD Barton 2800. My system is powerful, plain and simple. I also get 170 FPS outdoors with no one around. I am not speaking about being alone simpleton! When people speak of performance they're speaking of the battles, and how the game is drawing everything it can when it shouldn't! Case in point is those damn bombs being drawn while he was inside. Ever just run somewhere and turn left or right and your magical frames go from 100 to 2? This is the very reason right here... Quite frankly, I could care less if I'm getting 170FPS when no one is around. |
