OKay, EVERYONE THank ZOdiac for his Patience.
And Transporter, Either Learn to spell, or type slower. And if your Dyslexic, join the club dude. I am too. Question One : Lag depends, What modem you have? 56K is NOT recommended. I don't care what these others say. On the box I believe it says (Recommended xDSL or Cable connection) I CAN be wrong though. Also, there is a problem with Video lag. You need at least 512MB's of RAM and a good video card. Like a GeForce 3 or 4. An ATI 9600, 9700, or 9800 is just perfect, because each of these comes with 128mb's of video Ram. I have 9700pro, and I still get the occassional video lag here and there. It's because of the core drawning of the game's video, or the Wire Frame drawing, Shown in an earlier thread on this site. I'd post that, but I don't want to go looking for it, but I believe the name is "Why PS runs so crappy." Question Two : No, the controls are as easy to learn as Battlefield controls. Two reasons for this, One, because YOU the player can set your controls to what ever you want. And two, because after you play for a few days, you come to know what controls are what, and just where to position them for comfort. ONE piece of Advice, always remember that IF you don't remember a control function, look in the game options called KEYMAPPING. The best way to learn the controls is to look, not to ask, as an example, "Hey, how do I get my Squad list to come back?" Question Three : There are no stupid questions, there are no stupid answers, only stupid people who refuse to ask or answer a question. |

On the second question: controls.
PS controls are similar to any FPS out there, WSAD for foreward/back strafe left/right. The controls are akin to Half-life, only the action key is g rather than e. But yeah, if you have ever played any FPS with WSAD arrangement you will be right at home. Never hurts to ask. Also, when a large number of people are present, there is lag to some degree, however as of late this seems ot be decreasing. I would say, any decent connection, cable/DSL can handle it. Friend of mine runs fine with 512 RAM + GF4+ cable. He has a little video lag, but it still looks good by turnign off most of the high-system-resource-gobbling-death-to-ram-things-like-skydome (*deep breath*) 1K ram+radeon 9800 has no problems with video lag whatsoever on maxed settings. |

UH, Say that again. I caught maybe half of what you are saying, so I will try to go on that. The Game comes with 30 day free, but in order to get your 30 days, you must input a credit card number. How to start playing PlanetSide. Not including installing the game. Step one : Subscribe to SOE. www.planetside.com Step Two : Start up PlanetSide, Accept SOE's Agreement, Input your SOE user name, and password, and hit okay. Step Three : Start a PlanetSide Subscription. (Now I'm not entirely sure, as it's been a month, but I THINK this step is where you insert your game key, which is on the package containing all three Cd's. It's on the front. ) Insert your credit card information. Finish your subscription. Step Four : The Game updates automatically, by downloading the patches and installing them. Step Five : Hit Play, and enter the game. Choose your server location (Five to choose from at present) MY ADVICE, Choose either Markov, Emerald or the Europe server. THESE Three tend to be the most used, EMERALD being the most, from what I have seen. ONCE you choose server, you choose faction, then you create your character, then you are ready to play. HINT< Before you play, use the offline training, even if you can't get past the third (Vehicle) training. It SERIOUSLY helps to use the first 2 training courses. At least you won't come into the game as a complete New player. You'll have some idea of what to do. Step SIX: It's the sixth and most important step, BEFORE YOU GO OUT KILLING, go to VR training. Try EVERY SINGLE weapon, piece of equipment, and every single vehicle type, and vehicle weapon type you can. You ONLY need to put things into your hands to get the experiance. Even pull your knife out. Button 5, on your keyboard, NOT Keypad button 5. Doing these things net you all important experiance. Even walking up to Terminals for the very first time nets you experiance. You can gain BR level 3, at least just from doing these things. Meaning you'll have more certification points to use, even before you hit the battlefield. Second piece of advice, get Medium Assault first. Without this cert, you can't use the better weaponry AT ALL. Third piece of advice. Get a VEHICLE cert after you have Medium Assault. Even if it's just an ATV. Having a vehicle is the difference between being somewhere at the right time, and having to run somewhere, and maybe not getting there in time. ATV may not be good, but IT IS the only cert that gives you not two, but three vehicles for 2 cert points, and soon to be four vehicles. IF you prefer flying, Get a Mosquito first. DO NOT get a Reaver cert first. LEARN how to fly first. And to quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that." Last edited by Flammey; 2003-08-28 at 11:49 PM. |
