How to start playing PlanetSide. Not including installing the game.
Step one : Subscribe to SOE. www.planetside.com Step Two : Start up PlanetSide, Accept SOE's Agreement, Input your SOE user name, and password, and hit okay. Step Three : Start a PlanetSide Subscription. (Now I'm not entirely sure, as it's been a month, but I THINK this step is where you insert your game key, which is on the package containing all three Cd's. It's on the front. ) Insert your credit card information. Finish your subscription. Step Four : The Game updates automatically, by downloading the patches and installing them. Step Five : Hit Play, and enter the game. Choose your server location (Five to choose from at present) MY ADVICE, Choose either Markov, Emerald or the Europe server. THESE Three tend to be the most used, EMERALD being the most, from what I have seen. ONCE you choose server, you choose faction, then you create your character, then you are ready to play. HINT< Before you play, use the offline training, even if you can't get past the third (Vehicle) training. It SERIOUSLY helps to use the first 2 training courses. At least you won't come into the game as a complete New player. You'll have some idea of what to do. Step SIX: It's the sixth and most important step, BEFORE YOU GO OUT KILLING, go to VR training. Try EVERY SINGLE weapon, piece of equipment, and every single vehicle type, and vehicle weapon type you can. You ONLY need to put things into your hands to get the experiance. Even pull your knife out. Button 5, on your keyboard, NOT Keypad button 5. Doing these things net you all important experiance. Even walking up to Terminals for the very first time nets you experiance. You can gain BR level 3, at least just from doing these things. Meaning you'll have more certification points to use, even before you hit the battlefield. Second piece of advice, get Medium Assault first. Without this cert, you can't use the better weaponry AT ALL. Third piece of advice. Get a VEHICLE cert after you have Medium Assault. Even if it's just an ATV. Having a vehicle is the difference between being somewhere at the right time, and having to run somewhere, and maybe not getting there in time. ATV may not be good, but IT IS the only cert that gives you not two, but three vehicles for 2 cert points, and soon to be four vehicles. IF you prefer flying, Get a Mosquito first. DO NOT get a Reaver cert first. LEARN how to fly first. |

3rd vehicle? ANT. Remember, you get ANT with your first vehicle cert.
No, Medium Assault doesn't neccessarily go with every character type. But for a "first timer" it IS. Think about that. You've never played this game before, you don't know good things like Infiltrator and Combat Engineering, or you might, but you might not play them very good. A "first timer" should go for Medium Assault, and play with that for a while, until they get to know how things work. |

Well they are sitting still pilotless, and the bolt driver actually does quite a bit of damage to the smeg all armour of an ant, go get a bolt driver + Adv Targeting and try it yourself, really odd, explains why u get that Big old Red bar whenever u get hit by a bolt driver.

Yeah, if you are new you'll definately want to pick up medium assault to try. Honestly, I recommend trying just about everything though. The VR training doesn't really do i justice. I loved pilotin vehicles around in the VR room but I found that I don't really like driving in battle situations. I originally went with all around pilot, then I tried MAX's. Now I'm thinking I'll try the various weapon styles (sniping, special, etc)

I've been through ever single cert to try and figure out what's my best cert combination. I think I've finally found it. I call it Frontline Support. Incidently, I'm BR 15.88 and CR 2.32
Certs- AMS Engineering Reinforced Armor Heavy Assault Anti Vehicle Medium Assault Implants- Dark Light Advanced Targeting |
