Ok, so I just got a 512 stick for my woefully underpowered and old comp. Before installing that, I had a 64mb stick, and a 256 stick. I planned on replacing that 64 mb stick with the 512 one.
So, I install it and everything is fine till I try to log on with my ISP. Kept getting an error saying the connection port is invalid or busy. I figured I must have knocked something accidentally. Then, I remembered somewhere, a looong time ago, I heard that Windows 98 cant perform well with more than 512 mb of RAM. I then take out the 256 stick, leaving only the 512. Now, everythings running fine (havent tested any games yet) So, my question is, did I really just knock something loose in the modem back there? Or can Windows 98 just NOT handle 512+? Thank you in advance.

Just remembered something that might be why its interfering with my modem. The power supply thingy hasnt been upgraded since I first bought the origional comp. (3-4 years ago at least) I'm thinking that *maybe* the RAM takes additional power to use, and there just isnt enough to go around.
I'm probably wrong though, and I'd still like to know just what happened.

Ah, ok. I'm betting that WAS the problem then. Time to ask my friends for Win XP.
