My desktop locked up.

I think. My bro was playing earlier so I'm guessing he hit some setting. And now if i left or right click the desktop or the shortcuts, I'll just get that "you can't do that" noise.

Help?

did you go into the control panel and see if he might have accidentally messed with some of the settings?

Display, Mouse, System, toolbar, etc. nothing out of place....unless i missed something.

Plus I pressed every button on the keyboard atleast twice and nothing happened, though i dunno if it was some sort of key combo my lil bro pressed.

He's only 6. And he never admits anything. He stole a big pack of gum i had somewhere on the shelf and said a ghost stole it, then when i left the room for a minute then ran back in i saw him trying to replace the half eaten/swallowed packs. Whats the chances he's gona know how to get outa this one?

Could it be a hardware prob? maybe the mouse got un-plugged accidentally?

EDIT: IDEA: Ask him just do it if he says he saw a ghost do it ask him what the ghost did... hmmm maybe....

Thats the first thing I thought, the mouse. I unplugged it and repluged it nothing happened. I wasn't the first one that found this problem, my mom did hw right after my bro got done with his....game.... But then the taskbar works perfectly, its like the shortcuts became the desktop or something, I dunno.

I hope it was a ghost, cause i bet it'll remember stuf better than my brother.

white as in color of the desktop? No, same background. Its that fall season-like backgrond, but all the shortcuts appear on the desktop too, just you cant use them. Its like they're apart of the wallpaper, just that if you click any random place it buzes(aka, "you cant do that" noise).
