If they are having ads, there should be no monthly fee. I'm totally gonna make an MMO game with a buttload of ads, but no Monthly fee!

I know this is a dead horse, but it is pretty damn disgusting how they've included ads. Granted, they may be pretty subtle - but having an intel logo slapped onto the loader kind of ruins the atmosphere.

SOE get shedloads of cash from our (overpriced) monthly payments, they get shedloads of cash from the copies bought in stores, and yet they continue their greed by tapping every last resource of their game in order to gain money. I honestly would not be surprised if the sides of towers had posters such as "Buy Coca-Cola!" and the empire billboards inside the HART station were replaced with ads before long.

Wrong. I can't say I know the exact figures but i guarantee it's somethign like for every 5 dollars from advertisement 1 cent goes into development, if that.

Do you have any idea how little work it takes to make a game like PlanetSide? I mean, the hardest part is just getting the net code working smoothly. The game has piss graphics, piss weapons, piss balance, piss everything. It's like Tribes Light, without jetpacks.

Meh, the pentium ad has no effect on my gameplay at all therefore I couldn't care less about it. It it was something that they were putting on buildings and vehicles and the backs of soldiers then yeah I'd be upset, but I'm usually not even looking at my screen while I wait for continents to load so I don't even notice it most of the time.

So basically, it's an advertisment that's smaller than a matchbook and is only on the screen when you aren't playing the game at all, simply waiting for it to load. Why get worked up over it?

No offense meant here, Tek but how exactly would you know that? Do have extensive, or even any, experience as a developer or programmer in the gaming industry?

In your opinion, Tek. There are, however, many people who like the graphics, think the weapons are great and the balance is pretty damn good nowadays.

It is just a small icon on the bottom right of the loading screen, like 100x200 pixels or something..
