This process effectively speeds up yourn computer by putting all non-necessary applications on standby. This is perfect for low-end machines that usually have huge amounts of video lag. All you have to do is this. (Works for Windows only)
Click Start Click Run - on the command line type msconfig (Windows XP) A window should pop-up -Select Diagnostic setup (Windows 98) (note: with windows 98, the increase will be less than that of XP) Go to the startup tab and unselect everything EXCEPT for system tray (Both OS's) Click apply then close and restart start up Planetside I hope this helps a few people. It is gennerally a good alternative to overclocking your video card. Last edited by EbonHawk; 2003-10-02 at 08:51 PM. |

Thats a very simple way for you to tweak your system. We actually have a very knowledgeable forum user here I believe who has some great information for getting your system to run like butter. Visit this link and run through the many tweaks he has there regaurdless of your operating system. I ran through his gaming profile for Windows XP and I noticed a tremendous speed boost on my system after disabling many of those nasty background services. You can also created a different hardware profile so you can boot into either one if you disable some services you may want to use at a later time. Run through the information he has there and be amazed. I know i was.
