DirectDraw error

I'm having some problems with a different game other than planetside (gasp!) and was hoping someone here could help me out.

I installed the game with no errors, but when I went to play it, it came up with the following error: "A problem occured initializing direct3d. Hardware accelration may be disabled. Please run DXDIAG". I run it and run my directdraw and direct 3d tests. Directdraw does not pass due to the fact I cannot see the bouncy white ball bounce full screen. It bounces inside it's little box like it did the previous test, but not the full screen. What is the cause of this? I have updated my DirectX files to 9b. I cannot tell you if I had this problem before, as I didn't run DXDIAG when I first got my system up and running. Any help here is appreciated.

It puzzles me, i will have to see this dirext draw tester thingy

[EDIT:] Ok i looked at it and did your screen go compleatly back with the box bouncing around in it? (the box i had there only bounced around part of the screen not the whole thing) or was only part of the screen black?

The whole screen was black with the little white cube bouncing only within the smaller area, like the previous test. The test does make mention that it should be fullscreen, now if the white box needs to bounce full screen or not I'm not sure on.

The little white box only bounces in the little window part, even in fullscreen.

Edit: This was tested on a school comp so...lol...But i kinda remember it only doing that on my home one too...

Edit: You probably already know this, but is the acceleration enabled or not? If it isnt, itll have a lil box that says enable to t he left of the tests...yup, i kinda think you know that already though lol.
