I'm not sure what price drops your expecting. Generally MB and Memory don't drop in price much, ever. There is just good mb's and good ram, or cheap mb's and cheap ram.
The video card you want is best out, barely in stock anywhere, and not gonna drop in any kind of price for a very long time. Intel cut prices Friday. The P4 3.2 is down from $637 to $417 and can be found for $394 now. The 2.6 you listed is down as low as $175. Intel is basically floundering right now on the Prescott releases and 64/FX's are killing them. Prescott may not be out until next year now. But no matter what, your not going to see your upgrade get much cheaper. The chip is not gonna get that much less, and its about the cheapest part of your upgrade already. The other stuff is not gonna go down, so no real reason to wait much longer. |

Would waiting till Jan 04 mean about $100 off? Thats how long I have to wait (parents took MY computer away) and I MIGHT get it back then. Besides im more or less fiscally broke right now, college is gonna put a dent in my armor and getting my foot run over by a truck stoped my job. Well I guess im off to get my A+ cert to get a new job where I can sit on my ass!

Intel did some pricecuts on prossecors yesterday, but you won't be seeing in stores for a week or so, in feb the prices are schedualed(SP) to go down a lot, 3.2 ghz P4 or Prescot for 270 ish

Rbstr - did you just ignore my post man, heh. Price cuts were Friday, not yesterday. And price changes actually usually go into affect a week before they are officially annouced. I could get them at my local reseller a the new prices last week, www. monarchcomputers.com, but had to sign a "no return" promise to buy them. All the other super cheapo onlines at pricewatch were also down to lowest prices also immediately.
Don't expect precott in Jan or Feb. Many are expecting Q2 before they were out and really available in any number now. So that could make a big difference in their future price cuts. AMD is not dropping prices, so there is less pressure on Intel to do it. Prices will ofcourse go down though by then. The chip won't be $100 cheaper. But you may be able to squeak close to that out amongst all the parts by Feb or so, but it won't be huge. Your parents took your PC away? Thats just mean. |
