Any Nvidia FX serise card that ends in 50 is a joke. Your paying more money for the same thing... If your watching for an upgrade with an FX card, check out the 5700. It looks like it will be a very soild mid-range card.
ATI 9500 - 9800 are good cards. Both cards have good driver support, but ATI has better Anti-Aliasing performance at higher rez. Beond that I'll leave it to someone that has more time to go into the fine details.

the 5950 is just hight clocked there are no real changes besides that and new dustbuster cooler like the 5800's but this on is quiet, i would go with a 9800 pro or 9600 pro (or XT) any day for curren games. the new FW50's did catch up some slack but the ATI's are far better right now

FYI, the Nvidia FX 5900 256 is selling for about $100 cheaper than the 9800 pro 256.
